    CPU Upgrade, Bios Question

    Im upgrading to an Intel Core Duo Processor T2350 and have a Phoenix Technologies Bios Version 5.60 : 9/30/2008, will this bios recognize the T2350 or would i have to update the bios to a newer version ? or is this bios version perfectly fine?

    *if i do need to update can you plz post a link where to download the bios update from :)

    Specs:Toshiba Satellite A105-S2194, Ati chipset.
    Motherboard: Ati, Model : SB400

    That is the latest bios that I'm aware of and it works just fine with my T2450. Also posted a reply to your upgrading to Pentium M post. If you haven't already upgraded, I can tell you that it is possible. If you have, maybe someone else looking to do the same will find these posts.

    With Intel CPUs you want to upgrade a machine before the new chip and again (with the SAME BIOS) after the chip is installed.

    Why??

    Intel has microcode in all of their CPUs. Often, Intel will update that microcode and distribute it through OEMs and their BIOS release. Don't take it for granted that a new CPU will have the latest available microcode on-board.

    Concerning the original post, if the S2194 takes a T2450, it'll almost certainly take a T2350, so you should be good to go with that. Concerning the microcode, I don't think that's true. Obviously not 100% sure on that, but even if it was true, I don't think there's any effect on compatibility...
