Hi there folks, I am having a small question I need a quick positive/negative confirmation by an expert (beacause I couldn't find a experience report for this project on the web).

    The project:
I would like tu upgrade my CPU from the Toshiba A200 (Modell: PSAE6E) from a stock T7250 to a T9300.

    What I know:
The T9300 will definitely fit on the socket and supports the clock speed (800 MHz) as well as the chipset (Intel PM965).

In the A200 series exists a model, that came with a T8100 built in. This modell uses the same BIOS as mine does.

    Now the quick question:
Will my Laptop support the T9300? Because it is simply a higher clocked T8100 with twice the cache I think it should, or am I getting something wrong?

    Thanks in advance

PM965 board should work with all T9xxx with 800 FSB, I don't see why it shouldn't be compatible. I say go for it.

Ya I agree with the above, if a model supports T8100 (Penryn), no reason it shouldn't accept a higher end Penryn CPU model.

Thanks very much for your support a newbie.
I will post a little report on success/failure when my ordered chip made its way from the US over the pond to Switzerland. But I guess that will take around 14 days.

Okay, I got the CPU and replaced the old one, but apparently it does not work. The reaason for this is probably the different thermal sensor of the T5xxx and T7xxx compared to the T8xxx and the T9xxx.

Hope I could help with this.

No its not because of the thermal sensor.
A bios "upgrade" might work but its likely that the CPU microcode is missing from all BIOS versions by toshiba. You would have to decompress your BIOS and modify it with Phoenix BIOS editor or another tool.

You do have to update the BIOS to get support, I did the same swap 3 years ago.

    @JhonnyFlash:
A little question concerning your statement. My exact model nr. is PSAE6E and the notebook's name is Toshiba A200-1RL. There I tried to upgrade from a T7250 to a T9300. But as written above, it didn't work out for me.
The BIOS is already the latest with the Version 2.60. So an official upgrade wouldnt be possible.
But if you did the same upgrade: Can you give me a hint to find further information on the topic (Modding the bios for the necessary support)?

    Thanks in advance
