I'm looking to get an Asus gaming notebook that comes with an underwhelming 2 ghz P7350 core 2 duo (and gtx260m)

I want to replace that cpu with the 2.6 ghz T9500 i got off ebay a couple years ago to put in my trusty but aging Vostro 1500

does anyone know if it's possible? The T9500 has a FSB of 800mhz, the P7350 i'm replacing is 1066mhz FSB. From what I can gather from the Intel spec pages both are Micro-FCPGA and Socket P and it should work

    any help would be appreciated

The T9500 will not work in the P7350 system; those two processors are for different platforms. The T9500 was for the Santa Rosa platform; the P7350 is in the Montevina platform.

The T9400/T9550/T9600/T9800/T9900 and P9500/P9600/P9700 will work in your P7350 Montevina-based laptop.

Are you sure what you do is CPU-limited? The P7350 is enough for most games. I agree it is kind of weak to pair with a GTX 260M though.

Actually the T9500 should work.. i've seen ppl with the Asus notebooks using T9300 and T9500 which are 800MHz FSB processors... basically , they'll work but will only have 800MHz FSB... u might want to sell your T9500 and get a T9600... it doesn't cost much more now anyways.

hmm, thanks for the replies. I'll look into selling it for a T9600, didn't think of that.

That way I won't have to risk anything

p.s. why does it look like T9800s are more expensive than Q9100 on ebay? By around $60... maybe i'll go with a Quadcore :p

The T9500 is not a risk, definatly will work.

I have a T7300 in my GT627 (T7300 like your T9500 with the same FSB and made for the the same platform, my notebook has the same chipset as yours).

But yes you should sell it and get a T9600.

beacuse the t9800 is a much better chip for everyday use, the Q9100 is a waste of time IMO if you want a quad you should save for the QX9300 its the only quad worth getting. chances are you wont need the quad and the t9800 @ 2.93ghz is more than enough to handle your gaming needs

Do NOT buy a quad core for any ASUS G51 that didn't come with a quad-core in the first place.

Yes plz remember that... the G51s which didn't come with quads don't work.. Get a T9600/9800 or T9900 but not a quad...
