    Hello,

I have just got a HP 2510p 12inch Ultra Portable Laptop, and as my main laptop is 17inch I am not quite sure what the CPU temp should be on a laptop like this... When I first got this laptop it went really loud with fan noise almost immediately because the fan was so dirty so I cleaned that removed the thermal pad which was dirty and cleaned and put new thermal paste on everything.

Anyway my CPU temps are still excessive compared to my Dell Vostro which is always around 30-34c when doing little tasks. However this HP is constantly at around 53c if I put 2 youtube videos on it goes to about 64c.

So my real question is, is this excessive for something this size or isit normal?

    Thanks!

You are still a ways off from dangerous temps, i'm not too surprised. Given the thin size, you cannot fit cooling as good as on more standard laptops.

The T-Junction on your processor is 100C.

Just for reference, I have the 25XXp competitor, the X220 Tablet, and the temperatures are pretty good (26.5C ambient), idle is like 40's with 1-2 fan speed in tpfancontrol. Of course full load on a 2520M is still hot, nearly 90C but I rarely do anything to get it up to that temperature.

I still have the same laptop Hp 2510p elitebook with a u-7700 cpu running at 1.33. I can tell you that those temps are normal for a laptop of this size. This model likes to run kinda hot when doing anything kind of processing.

But I use RMclock to undervolt the processor and I have the 9 cell battery so the back is lifted for extra air intake and runs colder.

Temps are normal, my Alienware M11x R3 (specs in sig) runs at pretty much the same temp as yours, and that's in a 11.6" form factor.

Unless you are hitting 90 degrees or higher consistently, this is a nonissue. My first-gen Atom netbook hits 80 or higher under load and is still going.

I have another heatsink if you want it. Someone is selling ES heatsinks for the nc2400... watch out for that.
