I have an HP Pavilion zv6000. It came with 512 MB of memory, and after owning the machine for about 6 months, I decided to max it out with two 1GB cards. I bought Corsair Value Select.

They worked great for another 6 months. A year after buying the machine and 6 months after the memory upgrade, one of the Corsairs died. I had saved the original memory cards; I moved the working Corsair to the slot where the other one died, and put an original 256 MB card in. Everything was fine for a week, then the second Corsair died.

(I moved the remaining Corsair to the other slot because that slot is hard to get to, and I thought it unlikely that the second Corsair would die.)

Any thoughts? Corsair is supposed to be one of the good brands, but I think I'll be going with Crucial or Kingston next time. I just hope that there isn't something wrong with the slot itself! Time will tell, I suppose.
