Hey.. aint getting any answers from the hp guys.. so i'll put the question out here instead...

I am soon buying the HP nc6400 and was curious about the options with the multibay (hotswap and everything)
Is there or will there soon be a Blu-Ray Multibay station as an option to be pre-installed on the nc6400?

They may wait till a more conclusive result from the HD wars. So far bluray is a dead fish. I see HD DVD all over teh place but no blu ray.
I personally would recommend waiting a year or so, just incase blu-ray ends up being only used for the PS3 games. Which honestly, I think thats the way it will turn out.

    that sounded really reasonable.. thanks!
personally i'd see the blu-ray win since it has far better capacity

It's weird however since I haven't seen a single writeable hd-dvd on the market but about 3 or 4 blue-ray drives (Pioneer, Plextor and Sony). Just like Hazer I really want Blue-Ray to win this format war because the almost double capacity.

So how long will it take before hp will come out with a blu-ray\hddvd multibay? Am I optimistic in hoping for one before new year?

    Too optimistic...

I doubt dual format blue-ray/HD-DVD will appear on any notebook for at least 6 months. Single format blue-ray or HD-dvd has only appeared in very few notebooks, all of which I have seen are only in desktop replacement (17"+).

I can see blue-ray or hd-dvd appearing on smaller notebooks soon but I doubt dual format will appear on any notebook for quite a long time.
