I wonder what notebook(s) have the best quality screens up there, regardless of size, resolution, LCD technology used and response time. The only things to consider would be:

    - Picture quality
    - Text quality
    - View angle

I'm not particularly happy with my E1705's screen and wonder what notebooks up there have the best screens.

    Thanks

It has quite bad view angle, not so good picture quality and light leaks. Overall everithing looks on it not quite as good as on other monitors I used.

Well I'm getting my E1505 tomorrow.. Do you guys have the True Life crap? My friends Gateway looks amazing screen quality wise. I put my moms relatively new laptop up to his brand new yesterday one and ****, his looks as good as my CRT on my main computer. I hope my dell screen looks as good as his. But hey, his will break in about 3 months, so I'm not really jealous. Dell is a reputable manufacturer and HP IBM and Dell are the best laptops out there in terms of long term survival. My Toshiba satelite died in about 3 months, gateway has a very very bad rep too. But hey if you are just giong for screen quality, gateway has some nice screens. Sony and Samsung make really good notebook screens.

For laptops screens, IMO, I think Sony, Fujitsu, and Samsung.

Is it a Samsung or LG panel ? see an earlier post of mine comparing the two .

Both have light leakage , only fair viewing angle but the Samsung is much brighter .

After seing the qosmio G30 (1440x900) i have to say that it IS one of the best screen around, it is not too glossy, not too matte, the screen just looks like my plasma screen at home (maybe even better?) but the thing that set it apart is that, the colour reproduction is very accurate; and that the colour/brightness uniformity is excellent; its sooo smooth, bright as hell too! :p ... another great one i think is the Sony VAIO A-series (haven't seen the AR-series yet) it got better screen resolution (1920x1200) also, -i'm not sure if this is superior but...- the contrast seems very high on this screen.

i believe some/most of the sony VAIO uses SAMSUNG screen..., but DELL also uses SAMSUNG screen, but DELL uses cheap backlight technology so their one is different...

I believe the Toshiba Qosmio also uses a Samsung screen.

everyone seems pretty jealous of my screen. :)

i have no idea who the manufacturer is, but it's a boxxtech.

the surface is a high gloss, but when it's off, you can see that theres some kind of etching or something it's probably for glare reduction.

i also like the toshiba screens.

The Qosmio G35 also has the option for a WUXGA screen as well as a WXGA+. I've actually found the WUXGA to be a little bit better than the WXGA+ screen is. The reason that the image quality is top-notch is because Toshiba uses high quality screens with its Qosmio engine, which increases picture quality (a variant of the Qosmio engine is used in all of Toshiba's plasma and DLP televisions).

As far as Dell's screens are concerned, I've found my E1705's screen (truelife) to be not bad, even in comparison with an Qosmio's screen. I don't like Dell's matte screens though - they're not good in terms of quality and look washed out and don't have very good color reproduction.

HP dv8000t with the Ultra BrightView screen. It is nicer than the Toshiba Qosmio's in my opinion.

    I would agree.

In terms of viewing angles, any screen with IPS technology(such as the ThinkPad 'FlexView' and the lone ASUS V6va screen) are superior then most.

However, in terms of brightness and vividity, a majority of Fujitsu and certain LG and Samsung screens are amazing(The SS x50, LG LW60 were screens I've seen and been amazed, though the Q30(aka Latitude x1) and LW40/P1 were less then spectacular.
