I am wanting to buy either Arctic Silver 5 or IC Diamond 7. Just don't know where I would find a good deal. Ebay?

(This is for my MSI GX740)

define 'deal' and how much time you're willing to put in (or expect others to put in) to find prices on something that costs about ten bucks.....

Well I get your point. However I don't want to blindly pay $10 for a tiny paste tube only to find out 2 days later that the other store sells it for $5.

So I am asking people if they already know somewhere I can find it cheaper. I am not asking anyone to put in time to find a special deal for me.

(as an example, I've bought Ipod <-> USB sync cable for $2 on ebay (free shipping) when other places offered like $5 or even $10. Little things/accessories/mass produced goods are often not worth too much)

If you don't want to wait for shipping, Radio shack sells AS5 for around $10 in store.

ICD is the way to go. I've been using it myself with my GX740 since I've got it. I got the ICD from ebay. The performance doesn't degrade over time (18 months of everyday use).

I have heard lot of good things about ICD7. However, isn't it true that it is difficult to clean off and might even scratch the cpu? (msi might have a problem with that?).

And I've heard that AS5 gives very similar cooling performance and it isn't that hard to clean. So I am debating :p
Then again, if I get a free ICD7 then it's a no brainer hehe but I don't think I'll have any luck getting that.

You could just buy the giant 22 gram Ceramique syringe for $7-8. It's a simple but highly effective and safe ceramic paste. Almost all pastes perform similarly in reality regardless of the fancy names and elements in the expensive snake oils.

Actually the best thing you could probably do is leave the hardware alone. :) Better for reselling down the road.

There are still samples available, why not give it a shot, if you don't ask gain nothing but if you ask you might get something. Anyway, you are not far off from 50 posts.

idk I took ur advice and submitted anyway but we'll see what happens. Now I should start looking for that dissassembly guide and stuff for my model. Shouldn't be too difficult but it will help.
