DVD discs brand really doesn't matter IMO. I have used phillips, memorex etc. The discs type is use is single layer DVD-R. I had some trouble with the +R's when DVD's burners first came out so I went the the -R. AFAIK dual layers are still pretty expensive compared to single layer 4.5gb.

Verbatim is generally recognized as the best. SL, DL, +R, -R, RW, etc. depends on what you intend to burn on them.

Thanks for validating my research which all said go "Verbatim."

I will be burning mostly data and short video clips for presentations on the DVDs . . . so +R or -R or RW? I am open to your recommendation!

    Thanks.

I'll second the recommendation for Verbatim for DL discs, I use them on a regular basis for DVD authoring at work and almost never get a coaster. For single layer media, I'd go with Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

I'd avoid R/W discs... they can be problematic on stand alone DVD players.

Verbatim for DL. Taiyo Yuden for SL.
