Hi all, sorry if this is not the right place to ask. But what is the best 17 LCD panel in a laptop that you have seen out there? I just got the MSI GT725 and the included SEC3448 is horrible. I want to know if there is any compatible LCD out there I can purchase to do a swap. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I took apart the LCD assembly and found the following

LCD is a LTN170CT02 or a LTN170WU-L02-V/E (this one is etched in the front top left corner of the LCD)

It has 4 screw holes on the right, top and left side. It does not have any bracket weld on.

Looks to have only 1 lamp and those 1 inverter. It also uses a 30 pin data connection.

Anyone know which LCD is compatible? Also, if I upgrade to a brighter LCD, would I need to replace my inverter to a stronger one? Any help is appreciated. Thank you

the best is rgb led screen in studio 17, 2nd best is rgb led in studio 16.
if you want lower res lcd, wxga+led in studio 17 is the best.
i think the problem is: are they compatible with your system msi?

I always do indepth screen benchmarks on my laptop reviews.

My most recent purchase the Asus W90 has the best screen in a lot of ways that I have seen.

The gradients were the smoothest I have seen showing it has a very high grade of contrast and color representation, the response time test was just a bit better than I usually see, and I love how the entire inside lid is one solid piece of glass so its very easy to keep clean, dust just wipes right off like a window instead of getting lodge between the screen and bezel.

Overall my favorite screen of all time was the C90S though because it was not high gloss like most screens are now, it was a hybrid gloss and while statistically it may not have been as good as the w90 it was easier to use since you could use it in direct light with no reflection issues but it still had a minor gloss to it for a contrast boost and a slight boost to vivid color tones.

I have plenty of pictures of both screens in the reviews of each unit.

btw can we please use thumbnails? my little 10" EEE is having to scroll 2 screens over due to the pictures above.

I hear the Dell Precision M6400, Lenovo W700ds, and HP Elitebook 8530w (I think? the 17" one with Dreamcolor screen) have the best 17" screens (supposedly desktop level and possibly even professional graphics level).
