Got my new laptop, and I am not going to be traveling too much with it... I know in the past my battery has had a life of about 1 year before it stops working, and I was wondering.. if Im not on battery too often or am plugged in to the AC, can I take the battery out to save its life? Or will having it on the comp while plugged in not affect its life?

Having the battery in your laptop while it is plugged in will not have any effect on the battery. The battery does not get used when your laptop is plugged in and it will only get charged until it is full. The only reason you would want to remove your battery while it is plugged in would be to help you cool off the laptop. Also if your computer gets unplugged while your battery is out you lose all you info.

Lithiom ion batteries are going to die within 20-25 months. See this site for more explanations.

    http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm

There is the belief that if the battery is not being used, you should keep it fully charged and detached from the laptop because the heat generated from the use of the laptop will speed up the battery degredation. But make sure you plug the battery in once every 5 days to top the battery off.

Sorry, but until fuel cells are made for the mass market, lithiom ion batteries will die and there is nothing you can do about it.

Noted... I guess I will keep it plugged in.

If you have no power supply to the machine, you only lose unstored data.. your hard drive is fine; I am assuming this is what you meant?
