    Battery Life / Power draw of S1 Semprons

    I was reading the article on Turion x2 and it mentioned that even though there are two cores, the powerdraw is nearly the same as the original Turion. This is due to improvements AMD made in the new CPU.

    If Sempron for socket S1 is based on the same technology, one would assume that a single core would probably draw half the power of the X2. Battery life should last longer for the Sempron? On the other hand, may be the power saving won't be as significant because one of the core is turned off.

    Why in the world would I want a Sempron any way? Well, if you take a look at the current Sempron, they are pretty close to what an Athlon 64 used to be. I think a good number of people would be fine with such a setup. For example, my home machine is a Athlon XP-M desktop with the cpu set to default to 600 Mhz. It rarely jumps above that speed in normal use.
