    what rubbish is this?
I have a athlon X2 tk-53 in my dell vostro 1000 and the crap only has 256k cache.

I meant the laptop works lightening fast doh but still does this mean it is still crap?

Statistics are statistics. Does it perform how you want? Then who cares!

yeah it performs super fast but I heard 256k cache is crap compared to the core 2 duos. But the thing is this Athlon X2 actually performs nearly the same speed as the core 2 duos.

I don't understand what does cache do?
And why is my CPU still so fast even doh it has crippled cache?

    It is Dual core. 256k x 2 = 512k.

And your AMD has on board memory controller, hypertransport so basically a 1600Mhz FSB and likely a 800Mhz memory bus so you could use PC6400 which no Intel mobile can at this point. Do not compare AMD L2 with Intel L2 they are so architecturally different that you can not compare them equally. Intel needs more. A TL that has 2X512MB's clock for clock bests a core duo (barely so tight you could call it a tie) and TL and Tk are 64bit for what it is worth. Don't sweat it yea Core 2 Duo is the best but yours is good and better than a lot out there.

yeah man cause I have ah Athlon XP 1800 1.5GZ in my desktop with 1GB ram DDR 400 and XP PRO and the lappy with the 2GB ram and X2 64bit and Vista Ultimate and it literally blows this desktop out of the water.

I mean everything even opening up fire fox and internet explorer 7 in vista ultimate can be done in about 1 second.
Where as my Desktop takes about 5 seconds.

I tell you for a CPU with 256k cache per core this Athlon tk-53 is seriously fast. My friend has a DELL latitude with a Core duo 1.7GZ and the system I have with the athlon X2 actually works faster than his laptop.

doh he has 1GB ddr 400 ram
    and I have 2GB ddr 2 ram.

    I have used a desktop PC with a pentium D dualcore 2.4GZ and 2MB L2 cache
And my lappy with Athlon X2 1.7GZ 512k cache can blow out that desktop.

I know its strange I never imagined a CPU with such little cache could be so frecking fast.

Pentium D's are and were a joke (rush to market), AMD had and has that beat, as I said the AMDX2 (tie w/Core Duo) beat all but Core 2 Duos. I think many Intels might win on heat and power draw but AMD's are OK and do not need as much L2. Enjoy!

Edit: I believe the AMD's have twice the L1 cache! Think about that!

aah yess I forgot the AMD has more L1 cache than the Intel.

BTW powerpack I hear vista has a way of enabling your desktop to change according to the time of the day or something like that. Like the sun setting and thing.

    How do i do that?
    I have vista ultimate.
