    Asus G50v Hdmi-hd Tv

    Quick question. I just purchased an LG HD TV and I would like to connect my ASUS G50 to it through my HDMI output.

    I have updated my NVIDIA Card to 177.79 but still when I connect it to the tv, i get a "no signal" error.

    Any suggestions? THis is very frustrating.

    Just connecting the HDMI cable is not enough. You have to direct the output to the external display (in your case the TV). You can do it from NVIDIA control panel > Display > Setup multiple displays or from windows display settings. Also make sure that the TV is set to the correct input source.

    Thanks.I tried going to nvidia control panel but all it was showing was my laptop display.

    You should see your TV listed in the drop down list for 2. Select the display you would like to use. What happens when you press Fn & F8 keys together ?

    It just give me the laptop option.

    When I press the two keys it says LCD with a picture of my laptop

    I have a similar model (think the only difference is the 9800m GS) and a Samsung HDTV.

    I do the following:
    -Change TV input to HDMI4 (or 1 2 or 3 depending on which input I plug it in)
    -Plug in HDMI to both sides
    -Computer automatically displays to HDTV.

    Is it possible your model of HDTV only activates its HDMI port when you select the input?

    I am out of ideas, the only advice I can give you at this point is to try a different video driver. Connecting a notebook to a TV is pretty straight forward : connect the cable, switch the TV to the correct input and switch the display of your notebook (Fn + F8 or from the driver). If that doesn’t work then there is something wrong. Most likely a driver issue, if not a hardware problem.

    Sometimes uninstalling a driver doesn’t remove all the files and registry entries, therefore it is better to use a driver cleaning program to clean everything before installing a new one.
