    Hi,

I think that these are not dead pixels. How about you?

They have the same colour regardeless of the background. They are darker than a black backround, and they sometimes overlap half a pixel.

I tried cleaning the screen. I tried rubbing with my fingernail and this thing doesn't want to come off.

    Any solution?

Dead pixels remain black and stuck pixels are always on.

That mark looks as if it spans several pixels. I wonder if too much pressure got applied to that part of the screen. Do you know anyone with long finger nails who might have pointed at the screen?

I think its dirt behind the screen. Dust, hair and all sorts of crap get behind it.

I remember the case of the 'moving dead pixel'. It was actually dirt stuck behind the screen moving around.

I think the same as you. Is there a way to get rid of the dirt or to force it to the bottom of the screen so it is not visible?

is the dirt inside the front glass or is it between the glass and there 3 or 4 layers of plastics behind it?

    +1 for dirt.

I think it is generally somewhere behind at least the first layer. I've never seen anyone manage to clean the dirt, normally its replaced. That said you might be able to clean, perhaps its between the LCD and backlight, but it is very risky to attempt so unless your very good with disassembly and reassembly.

If its under warantee, you might be able to have it replaced.

Can you feel it when you slide your fingernail over it? Or is it completely smooth?

Yeah I had dust under the screen, I watched the dust get worse and worse until a hair got stuck in it. Had to have HP replace the whole laptop after they couldn't understand the problem and made it far worse.

I don't think you should try to clean it, it would only make the problem worse if you were to get more dust in, a finger print on the inside of the LCD or damaged any of the light box.
