Anybody seen any benchmarks for dual channel on c2d?

I'm wondering if the 4mb cache seriously weakens any performance gain from a dual channel RAM setup.

...why would it weaken it? The cache is faster than even dual-channel can provide data, so it will do nothing but increase the performance. I should hopefully have a review of my machine coming out here soon, so you can judge for yourself.

No, you misunderstood my post (I didn't explain properly). With the release of a 4mb cache, does the performance gain that one customarily got from utilizing dual channel become so insignificant that dual channel setup on a c2d will provide a miniscule performance gain over single channel.

A bigger cache reduces the need for dualchannel, yeah. And so you get less of a performance boost from dualchannel.

There have been a few benchmarks of this posted on the forum, and most showed very little benefit. It depends on what you use the system for though.

could you direct me to a benchmark where core duo or c2d was tested comparing dual channel to single?

I would choose more cache over dual channel any day. In fact I'm still wondering if Bill Gates' personal laptop has 2GB of L2 cache...
