Just put an order through Lenovo and selected this dual core processor over a slower clocked quad core.

I know a slower quad is generally faster but I'm hoping the 2640M performs at a high performing rate as well. I have a fast quad-core desktop.

I will be doing some musical recording and editing on the machine but assume the dual core would be sufficient.

Any first hand experience with this processor and short reviews?

    Thanks!

    Passmark Processor Benchmark:

    2640M 2.8GHz: 4165
    2630QM 2.2GHz: 6338

It really depends on the tasks you're performing, like whether the program is can use more than 4 threads.

The 2640M has 2 cores and 4 threads, the 2630QM has 4 cores and 8 threads.
