Any rumors of 850 evo/pro msata coming soon?

Not liking any msata options currently. Still undecided if I going to return my crucial m500's 480gb I got for $160 apiece. If I return them I'll be spending basically what I spend on one 850 evo/pro 512gb. Not a big deal but still want a good boot msata drive with encryption and that runs cool. 850 msata might fulfill that. Anybody?

    Fair enough.

I had no complaints about mine in this respect, but given your encryption requirement that's a non-issue...

    Happy shopping.

Nothing yet, neither mSATA nor M.2. And the standard 850 evo M.2 is still max. 500GB (Samsung's ssd line-up). There's one source that claims ' after the holidays', doesn't look very reputable though ...

Bit unfortunate, was hoping for a 1TB 850 Pro. Can wait a few months, but if it'll take too long (or never) at least there's the regular 1TB 850.

    What about the MX200 mSATA?

Last I checked, Amazon and Newegg both had the 850 Evo in mSATA and M.2, and they were supposed to be released last week, but I haven't seen anything about the 850 Pro in different form factors.

edit: Ok, looks like the mSATA 850 EVO is released, but the M.2 isn't coming out until April 8.

Seems pretty good, but the mSATA only goes up to 500GB. No mention either as to whether it's MLC or TLC ... the SanDisk X300 1TB will be TLC anyway, so that'll put it in the same boat as the regular 850.

The current 840's still run fine and cool (due to the stripe), but space is running out fast and they're not being treated kindly. Hmm ... don't suppose there'll be an SLC mSATA at an estimated retail price $20k ... ?

Great, thanks  . It's nice to know there's a good alternative. Send them an email inquiring about a 1TB version, unlikely to get a proper response, of course, but wth ...

I am looking for m.2 since I ended up with batman. The 170sm was a nice top notch contender but too many advantages with batman. The big disadvantage with batman is limited m.2 choices currently.

It's in a way futureproofed.. mSATA is a dying breed now... M2 is the future whether we like it or not...

You need to change the thread title and OP then. Everyone's been recommending mSATA drives up to this point.

Yup lol.. How did I not notice this earlier too? I think the best M2 drives are not out yet.. wait for the SM951 and the new Mushkin/Intel drives!

No need to change the title... That is what a conversation does: it evolves. :)

The only M.2 drives I am currently anticipating is the Intel offerings.

Anything Samsung? Not so much. o_O
