They havent even started manufacturing these yet. So, nothing can be said about upgradability from 90nm X2's. Ofcourse it will most likey need a BIOS update from the laptop manufacturer.

Nothing will be available until the end of Dec. Besides, the spec is not much different from 90nm. You only have DDR2 800 advantage by then. But where to find such RAM?

A BIOS update, and then yes, you can. Will probably save you battery life, but is it worth it?

If there's enough demand the ram manufacturers will produce DDR2-800 sodimm's, they'll have to ramp up anyways for Intel's Santa Rosa coming out around April 2007.

I'm more interested if AMD's improved power consumption and if they'll be better low power chipsets

I would have to venture that by late next year there will be an impressive pseudo-platform from AMD with good battery use due to the ATI-AMD merger and the shift to 65nm. '08 is when things from their merger will start to get good, though, and that is when many of the performance enhancements that we will see on the desktop side in '07 will find their way to the mobile space and ATI should have very good, very tuned chipsets / mobile graphics processors.

Exciting stuff to a geek like me, I guess.

The 5112 CPU is socketed (S1) so if AMD does not make massive changes to the electricals it should be possible. No guarantees though.
