    I'm considering upgrading a non-gsync Z-book 15 with a gsync panel and a gsync capable video card with a gsync v-bios if I do that will it be enough to activate gsync? I think I read somewhere that laptop gsync requires a hardware license and the laptop mobo must be in a lookup table to activate sort of like SLI

    You seem to be going through an awful lot of trouble, time, and possible expense to make these modifications that may not even work in the end.

    Risk and reward my friend I haven't bought anything expensive yet and I'm having a lot of fun getting the mental juices flowing with the question of "what if". Everything I do opens my mind to another possibility, every milestone reached gives way to a new realization, a superior method.

    To think my initial interest in this laptop was the fact that it had thunderbolt

    Update: This laptop supports Optimus and Optimus is incompatible with Gsync so I will be abandoning the Gsync upgrade since I'm not sure if turning switchable graphics off is enough to make gsynch work and I will go for popular IPS panel instead
