The DVD R/W (Philips 2006) that came with laptop died and I went online to find a compatible one. Although it was supposed to be a Dell (refurbished) it turned out be have a HP sticker but was manufactured by Philips-BenQ (2007). Otherwise it looked exactly like the one that came out.

Anyway, on to the possible problem. Without bothering to uninstall the old one in device manager, I just installed the new DCD R/W by slapping it in. Windows found it no problem and it's up and running, I'm just worried about having an old driver. Or would it be the same?
