    Hi,
The specs on the on HP DV9429US notebook says the RAM is upgardeable only to 2GB.
Has anybody added more than the specified 2GB RAM?

    Thank

as long as your source is credible, stating that 2gb is the max, then it simply will not work.

2gb is the max. end of story

What's the chipset? Sometimes manufacturers state a lower maximum ram than what's possible. And sometimes they've limited it in the bios. So even though it physically supports it, it still doesn't work.

I think they meant 2gb max per slot, thus enabling you to have 4gb is total (2 x 2gb).

Pretty much any recent notebook will be able to handle 4gbs of ram.

I say be careful! Unless you want to change BIOS. I don't see max per slot. It does not make sense. Some say 2GB because 2GB sticks were not out but nobody talks per slot because they don't need to warn you not to put a 4GB stick in. I have not seen one yet.

What powerpack said. I haven't seen anyone us a max per slot way of counting either, unless it sais "max 2GB, max 1GB per slot".
