I'd like to add more RAM to my Lenovo T61p. I've opened up my case and the RAM I currently have is 2GB of PC2 5300 DDR2 1-Dimm. Also I have windows 32 bit.
I tried the crucial system scanner and it says I can use: DDR2 PC2-6400, DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC) and the RAM it suggested has 200 pinns.
My question is, do I need to match the stick I already have in my computer for best performance or can I add any RAM that works with my computer. I'd like to add another 1 GB.

A car will typically runs more smoothly with a matched set of tires, as will your computer.

If you did use PC2 6400 it would downclock to PC5300 so i would just get whichever is cheapest. It will run fine with either.
PC5300 looks like a better deal.

You can use Sodimm DDR2 6400,however you'll need to have a CPU with 800Mhz FSB to get 800Mhz from your ram, otherwise it uses slower ram mhz , using the chipsets native settings. Both ram mods have to be the same speed or the lowest mhz mod is used for both.
