    Hi everyone,

I'm considering either a refurbished or previously ordered new dell latitude e6500, and I believe I discovered I could save a decent amount if I add in upgrades myself after purchasing their cheapest configuration.

I have a great deal of experience building desktops but none with laptops. I know that you can have both bluetooth and network card installed by dell as an upgrade and still have a free mini card express port open. My question is, if I were to install these myself, would there be at least 2 open ports to install these components in the same way dell would have installed them, or would it be impossible?

In particular, I was thinking of getting a laptop that only has dell b/g wireless card, so I'd at least want to be able to install a bluetooth card on top of that. Normally, I suppose I could just use the single free mini card slot that can be accessed without opening the back panel of the laptop, but I'm wondering how dell integrates this device while still keeping that slot open.

I know ram installation is exceptionally easy, but I want to make sure what I get is compatible. Would this kind work and be advisable?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Ray

You're doing correct with chosing to upgrade/install everything that is upgradeable by your own, that'll make everything much cheaper and better :)

How dell does with the bluetooth, i have no idea. So i'd have it shipped with bluetooth already, it shouldn't be overpriced, or is it?
Anyhow, if you know there is a slot free for the bluetooth device then do it yourself :)

RAM, HDD, CPU, WLAN is what 98% of the notebooks can have upgraded pretty easily.

Those sticks should work fine btw :)
