    Yes, but the problem with most is they use a non-standard bezel, so it's hard to replace with one off the shelf.

    Prefer the NEC 6650 at NewEgg myself. Sometimes you can snap the old one off or cut the new one. What laptop is it?

    Is bezel the plastic part on the front tray ?

    There is this Pioneer DVR-K05 , slot in drive that look absolutely awesome!
    Could it arrange the bezel problem you are talking about?

    You can't do it on a T40 cause T40s use 9.5mm height drives whereas most everyone else uses 12.7mm height drives. So it will be too big. You can get a external case for about $20. The slot loading drive, depending on whether it is modular or fixed on the HP may cause some problems as well.
