My current laptop power adapter has the plug that connects to the back of the laptop as seen below:

The plug to the back is straight, I don't have much space behind my laptop and I don't want to bend the cable that much around the plug.

I was wondering if there is some kind of connector I place on that plug so I can convert it to an L-shape as seen below:

You can buy a 90 degree plug, to replace yours with.
You need a plug which fits into the jack on the back of your laptop.
Than you simply cut the power cable and splice the new plug in.
You should get some heatshrink tube and a heatgun. Than get some electrical tape and you should be good to go.

I was thinking more on the lines of some special adapter I can connect it to. I'd rather not cut and paste parts together, cutting and splicing wires. Not really my field.

I do not know of one off the top of my head.
You may want to check MPJA, Digikey or Mouser electronics, for plug gender changers
