Maybe I'm blind, but I wasn't able to find anything on this when I searched - any idea how much faster the 6970m is versus the 460m? I'm replacing my 460m-powered M15x in a few months with an M18x, and assuming they don't put a 48xm in that thing, my only option for a videocard will be the 6970m. Everything I've seen suggests it should be a decent upgrade, but I was hoping somebody might be able to shed more light on the topic.
Also, nVidia to AMD converters - do you miss PhysX?

Looks like you missed the preliminary reviews featuring the 6970m, it quite clearly states this card is meant to compete with the 485m.

That's reassuring!
Thanks for the link. i just wanted to make sure before I spend another $2,000 on a boutique laptop that this second one can last me a few years. The 460m isn't bad, but I'm wanting a Sandy Bridge based system so I figured it would be nice to have a video card upgrade along with it.

Single card its a little behind on average.
Crossfire its at least equal thanks to better scaling. -
CF 6970m is still behind 485m SLI in vantage and unigine:

We can forget unigine because its a test of levels of tesselation which you should never use.
3dmark 11 would have been a better test for these cards but obviously nvidia need to fix it.
In the games they swap back and forth. Considering the cost factor the 485m is not looking good. -

6970M competes with the 460M in SLI
6970M is basically a Desktop 6850 downclocked. The GTX 460M is basically a downclocked desktop GTS 450. They're not even in the same performance brackets -

EDIT: NVM did not quite read the post right.

There was a Nvidia owner that posted his Unigine run there too. -

As of 485SLI, this card is just one place above the 6970M crossfire. But in comparison between 460M and 6970M, the latter is way better.
