Hey everyone, as this is my first post in the forums, I'd like to say this is a great forum site and has proven to be very helpful to me thus far. On to my question, I currently have the 660M GPU and heatsink in my M17X R4.

I have purchased the 680M and it is on its way to me now. I was told that my 660M heat sink will work fine with this 680M GPU. I will just have to add a few more thermal pads to it. (After cleaning it of course)

What is making me think I may need to upgrade the heat sink is because the 660M heat sink is i beleive something like, 64watt. While the 680 GPU is 100watt. Am I wrong for thinking that I would need to upgrade to a 675

heat sink for the 100watt? Or even a 680M heatsink?

You will likely need a new heatsink. I'd ask in the Alienware section though, much more knowledgeable folks there with current owners who will likely know the answer to your question.
