Like the title says: I'm currently not really informed which of the 3 (?) new 320 Gb 7200 upm drives I'm supposed to choose in terms of performance. Newegg lists a WD, Hitachi and Seagate model. As far as I know storagereview.com hasn't come up with reviews except with one for the WD. So any suggestions anyone?

Andy can know because he tested them personally.

Zipzoomfly has 7K320 for $149 after MIR. If you don't mind the slight increase in noise it's a great deal.

Thanks for the input. Money is not so much of a problem, but temps are, since it's meant to be installed in my MBP. I'm mostly looking for the best possible increase in performance.

You could go for the WD3200BEKT but there has been one MBP user who complained about it in the Newegg reviews. If i remember correctly he said ' as is an extra fan was installed'.

MBP seems to be very prone to vibration and noise.

I believe factory installed hard drives for the MBP come with some type of metal plate stuck on the drive. It's supposed to reduce noise and vibration. You can't peal it off though and I haven't been able to find out what exactly it is much less where to get another one.

    EDIT:
It's probably one of these 3M Damping Foils.

Probably not something you can pick up at your local hardware store.
