I am waiting for the Samsung 64GB flash drives. Power consumption is 5% of regular hard-drives! More laptop battery life. No moving parts! Fast! whoa!

don't forget an extremely limited lifespan as well. hopefully, they can engineer a way around that problem.

You are right, flash hasn't taken over hard disks in laptops, yet. Flash is the future of portable storage. The future just hasn't arrived yet, i.e. reasonable prices.

Exactly, prices are still too high and will remain so for a while.
In MP3 players a 4/6GB flash based costs as much as a 30-60GB HDD based one with tons of extra features. But it is only a matter of time

I got my 4gb flash mp3 player for $163. Have yet to find a hard drive-based player for that price. A 6gb flash player is on the horizon. Just more signs of the times, prices are dropping on flash memory.
