I can't seem to find any PC notebooks with that have this particular screen size and resolution. Personally, I find text on a 15" with 1680x1050 resolution too small. The only laptop I've found that fits the bill is the Macbook Pro. Are there any others on the PC side?

The resolution on a 15.4" notebooks is difficult to find, but I do believe that the Dell E1505 has the option for that screen. It will be difficult, as your notebook options will be cut down serverely if you must have this resolution and sized screen.

Yep. The Dell Inspiron E1505 does have the WXGA+ option.

Yeah it's strange why you find so many notebooks with WXGA 1280x800/768 on 15.4 rather than WXGA+.

Also, the MacBook Pro 15" has that as the only available resolution.

I do believe the HP dv4000 had the WXGA+ option, but that notebook has been discontinued for 2 years or more now.

For the Dell, check on the Small Business page (it will be the Inspiron 6400 there, but same thing). They may have discontinued that option though.

EDIT: Nope, its still there, but only in Small Business, apparently.

You get the option when you customize the Dell E1505. You can find the WXGA+ option when you select the LCD Panel.

Thanks jetstar, you're right, there is a WXGA+ option. However, it doesn't state the resolution. I can't find any mention of 1440 x 900 for the E1505. Clicking on "Help Me Choose" only shows 1280 x 800 and 1680 x 1050. I wonder if it's a misprint on their part.

WXGA+ resolution is equal to 1440 x 900. Have alook at the wikipedia link below:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WSXGA_Wide_XGA+

Dell seems to be offering the screen on the UK site aswell, with the WXGA+ resolution, so I don't think it is a typing error. Have look in the configuration of the E1505 on dell.co.uk.

OK, I just called Dell support and the rep told me that they don't offer 1440 x 900 display resolution for the E1505, only 1280 x 800 and 1680 x 1050. I asked him what the WXGA+ option meant, and he said that's just how they label it.

I guess the search for a 15" WXGA+ laptop continues...

The Dell rep didn't know what he was talking about when he told you that; most likely he was misinformed.

Dell offers the WXGA+ resolution on their 15.4" Inspiron E1505 as posted.
