Can anyone point me to where I can purchase one of these drives? I am looking to put one in as an upgrade to a Dell D420.

As far as I know those don't exist. Never seen one on sale anywhere.

Hmmh , Thats odd. You expect them to be available , Genrally devices with them are like MP3 players ect so i guess you dont need hudge read/write speeds for that , but still. Should be available somwhere. But your gonna gonna get 7200rpm for sure. Thatd be like a 15k laptop hdd , Not gonna happen.

No they are available - you can configure it on the dell website - 5400rpm is as fast as the 1.8inch drives are going right now - I just need some help finding one in the aftermarket....

Not only are they used in MPS players but also in small form factor laptops - like the Sondy TZ, Dell 4xx and HP 2510 series.

    They exist.

Guess they don't offer them in my backward country :).

Never really looked at 1,8" drives. Al my laptops use a standard 2,5" drive.

I've had a really hard time finding 1.8" drives anywhere. Check NewEgg and CD-W.

Thanks K-Tron - I agree that is stupid expensive - I got the machine today and it has a 60GB drive in it and it is my work machine so I think I will be ok with what I have.

Regarding a 2.5" inch drive - it is a small form factor PC so it will not take a larger drive - OK - thanks so much for the help!
