Hey guys I actually have a problem with my processor frequency for my i7 4710HQ in my Gigabyte P34G V2. It always stays at 1.6 GHz even when under intense load. I have my power management set to high performance and everything. Only way I can make it go to 3.0GHz+ is by changing my multiplier in intel extreme tuning utility higher one number and then back again. I have to do this way too often and it is annoying. Does anyone have any idea why it will not go higher than 1.6 GHz? Thanks.

Someone mentioned that a bios update fixes this issue, you may give that a shot.

Download the latest bios if you have not already done this. And flash the bios. Go to Trottlestop guide in this forum, then you get help with this problem.

It happens to me sometimes as well with my P150HM. While on battery after waking it up and plugging it in, the cpu sometimes get stuck at 800 MHz thinking it´s still on battery.
When I tested the P35X v3 it frequently got stuck at 1.6 GHz as well.

Maybe a Bios upgrade will help, I usually just use Throttlestop and call it a day.

We've been discussing potentially a similar issue in the P35x thread, so you could check the things tried there. Unplug and replug power supply seems to help reset the power settings, or something that seemed to be affecting my P35W to 1.6ghz was the Stealth Fan setting (this could be by design and I just didn't realise), if you use that maybe switch to Auto fan speed?

Update Smart Manager to the newest version and set the fan profile to "auto-low" or "auto-high" this resolved the issue for me.
