    headphone/mic jack

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use a little condenser mic with mini stereo plug (specs here: https://www.cnet.com/products/sony-ecm-717/
    with my Gigabyte Aero 15.Windows 10.

    The laptop has one jack labelled headphone/mic. Seeing as this is a "dumb" type microphone (not USB etc), I don't know how to get the computer to see it. It only recognises the internal mic and USB webcam mic.

    I'm trying to give online music lessons and while the internal mic and external webcam mic are ok for conversation, sound is terrible for instruments.

    It should be a combo jack(with 4 prongs), so all you need is an adapter, like the linked below:

    Or search for combo jack adapter, then just plug the mic into the mic input on the jack and then open the Sound definitions(right click on the speaker icon on the task bar) and change the Mic input(there should now be an extra option to choose because the laptop is detecting the jack).
