I handled one by chance. Probably one of the best laptop designs I’ve ever seen!

I’d opt for the 4K screen if I were getting one of these beast masters.

I’ve seen several in stock in the USA.

I bought it online. 4k screen vesrion is not available in France. But IMO 120Hz is better.

I just wish it were a IPS 1440P Gsync. But, I don’t think that is available on any laptop let alone the X9.

The only thing I like about the 4K screen is just how it makes games look on a 17” panel.

The pixel density is almost 300 I’ve owned my X7 V7 for a little over a month and I still find my self amazed at how clear it looks.

I have never experienced a 144hz ,1440P gaming experience though either. So, I’ve only got half the picture lol in my head.

    New X9 may be incoming.

Aorus announced there making it a single gtx1080 as well 8th gen cpu should be expected.

I’d rather have (2) gtx1070’s personally. More fun, more performances, more tinkering room.

They better make that new single gtx1080 version the 190+ watt gpu version or I’d be disappointed.

What were they thinking of only offering FHD on a GTX 1080 with an i9 Intel CPU? 1

Yep, so odd of them to only have FHD screens instead of the common 1440p 144 or 4k as previous revisions.

Biggest question for me is if the panel is of the Asus 3ms variery or a slow response useless panel. Wish I knew but there seems to be nothing written about it.

Gentech lists it as a TN panel. That could be a double edged sword if true.
Lacking the beauty of IPS but more likely to be a faster screen.
Everyone seems to talk about how Max-Q is misrepresented in spec sheets but what about this "IPS-level" classification which many resellers just short form to IPS

There are three manufacturers that have trademarked very similar LCD technology. LG was first, with their IPS trademark, that was soon followed by:
    Samsung PLS
    AUO AHVA

It would be hard to tell the difference if you had 3 laptops, sided by side, each with one of the three screens. Therefore they have been lumped together, by the laptop manufacturers not the resellers, as "IPS-level".

The GT75 is available in 1080P 144hz, and 4K ips panel.

    $3,999 and $4,499.

    Both use 8950HK.

I’m not sure if the X9 will go this route. But I sure hope so. If not, I may try and get a good deal on the last gen X9 with (2) 1070’s and 4K screen. Maybe $2,000 used on eBay after the new one releases.

I’m almost certain the 144hz 1080P panel is TN looking at videos and the user showing viewing angles the colors totally wash out from top to bottom.

I just got an email confirmation from Aorus that the panel is 7ms response.
I guess it's the same one used on the Asus model. Not amazing but good enough to confirm my pre-order!
I've had so many laptops..it's time to stick with an elite non chunker.

My first laptop moving away from desktop was a Aorus. I’m stuck on laptops now. Best experience thus far in computers in years..It’s gonna be tough to go with another vendor other than Aorus considering how good my experience has been.

One of the main reasons I’m happy with Aorus, is because my gtx1070 is as fast as a overclocked full power desktop gtx1070.

Also, my ips Pantone display seems like it was quality checked for light bleed.

Aorus even gave me the full 2 year warranty when I registered it. Even though I bought it used for $1,800. The previous owner bought it brand new the month before. Never registered it, and barley touched the thing..Aorus let me use my paypal eBay receipt. And I got a full 24 months!

They also mailed me the Aorus back pack that the first owner kept!

Great service! No issues thus far.

Any word on the TDP of the gtx1080 in the new X9?

Considering they had (2) 115 watt gtx1070’s in the last one, I don’t see why they wouldn’t put a 200 watt gtx1080 in there.

I emailed the technical support at Gigabyte about my screen panel question. I thought it was a long shot that anyone would have the answer (aside from a select few individuals)
I was very surprised to get an answer within an hour. I guess maybe they forward the email to Aorus themselves which ive noticed seem to be a tight knit group of people that seem to be knowledgeable.

As far as Aorus service...I had the X5 V6 ( which i would still have today if I didnt prefer 17.3")

I messed something up on the motherboard, I was tinkering and I wont say what i was doing but I sent it in and was sure I'd get a big bill for repair. They honored it under warranty much to my surprise.
It may take a little longer to get things repaired because they seem to ship some parts from Korea to the service centers, but Aorus really seems to know how to build a brand!

Asus is making very slim GTX 1070 laptops now but i'll bet a dollar the TDP is still 115w. I don't know what the TDP was on my X5 V6 but it would hold 1850mhz+ for extended gameplay and thats with the built in command center overclocking without a gpu undervolt!

Hoping for at least 180w on that GTX 1080..

I would assume the 1080 in the new X9 is at least 180watt as the current X7 v7 DT is 180watt from what I have tested. The new x9 uses the 330 watt power brick which should provide plenty of headroom with the 1080 and the new gpus scheduled for debut around July.

I was looking at pics of the power connection on the back of the laptop. Looks like we can't use any of those clevo/MSI 330w power bricks we have lying around. That sucks.
I'm under the impression that the cards will come out in July and months later the laptop manufacturers will push out the new models. Seems to be what happened in 2016 if I remember.
I'm grabbing an X9 from Newegg next week and I'm going to sell it when the next gen gpu comes out this year. I'll take a loss but I need that X9 sooo bad! Brown switches are my favorite!

Yup just went back and looked and it seems its not the typical 330 that gets passed around but looking at the reported specs I see 300 and 330 watt adapters reported so just share with us once you have it in hand. I don't blame you on the purchase, I considered doing the same.

My TDP of my gtx1070 has touched near 140watt max in hwinfo. I really don’t know what TDP it is either. But it starts drama with AW guys.

I’m holding tight until next gen gpu. It’s gonna feel like a nice upgrade! 6 cores, and 50-70% gpu improvement

Guys, I think 4K 60+ FPS will be mainstream come Next GEN Nvidia GPU’s.

Hope they release it on Monday...I'm half expecting it to change from preorder to out of stock lol!

I hope someone makes a "Official Aorus X9 DT" thread.....if I'm the leading expert on the X9 we're gonna be in trouble!

First thing I'll likely do is undervolt the gpu and cpu. I've no doubt at stock it will run hotter than i like. Run it that way for abit and see what how it goes. ( Of course if temps are low I'll probably immediately start cranking up the multupliers.)

its Amazing how much higher I can get my core clocks while running no memory overclock. Nearly another 75mhz.

I can’t access msi AB voltage graph parameters like I can on my desktop.

The option is just not there.

I was feeling the same way about my recent purchase of the Aorus x5v8. I rationalized it by thinking my 6700HQ is due for an upgrade and 8th gen seems like the next logical option. The Aorus x5 from last year looked great with the 3K screen but when I heard about the 8th-gen 6 cores I decided to wait. This is my dream laptop; ticks all the boxes. I'm excited to get it tomorrow.

Even though next-gen GPUs are coming this year, this week, officially from an Intel conference call, 10nm has been delayed until 2019. Personally, I'm fine with a GTX 1070 and 8th gen CPU until the 9th gen laptops come out in 2019/2020. I feel like that would be a worthy upgrade. I hope the GTX 1070 replacement can do 1440p 120/144Hz. I would love for 1440p to become the new standard to replace 1080p in high-end laptops.

For you yes, especially coming from a 6700HQ, that’s a pretty significant upgrade.

With my 7820HK at 4.7Ghz though, me going to even a 8950HK it’s a 25-30% in improvement at best and this is for heavy multi threaded stuff.

Even my current setup is faster than 8750H (6) cores in multithreaded apps due to there TDP throttling in certain situations.

So it would only be worth it for me, if I purchased a 8950HK laptop. And the current admission ticket for those is about $3,500 at the low end.. And even then it’s so so..

But having a locked 6700HQ in games versus a high clocked super fact 7th gen or 8th gen IPC cpu the FPS is day and night difference especially 1080P!

It's shipped! Funny thing is it ships from newegg.com in California to get to newegg.ca in Vancouver and then off to Ontario...wierd.
The release date at newegg.com is pushed back to May 30...but theyll send me one in Canada.
Here's hoping for no dead pixels and no DOA!

After I get over the initial first night excitement of the new machine I'll take a pic of the power supply, establish stable undervolts and download my usual cpuz, hwinfo64 etc.. that's about as far as I go though.
If you want serious testing ( and I figure you do..) you'll have to walk me through using those programs properly. Cinebench etc...
