    was looking at the 3070 model but there is no date yet, just around June while im seeing the 8GB 3080 version of the YD model will be available next week. how does the 8gb 3080 compare to the 16gb and the 3070

    At 100-ish watts, an RTX 3080 mobile isn't going to be fast enough in situations where having more than 8 GB of video memory might be useful (4K, etc).

    Maybe vr? I'm not sure how that hits vram. Another guess would be mining longevity, if this is also marketed towards creators that may another reason

    pre-ordered from newegg who listed june 4 as the date, today i messaged their chat to see when they'll charge my card and they rep told me they dont have an eta yet that the product page was just for reference.
    messaged Hidevolution, and they have a "june" eta and they have no clue when in june they'll get them.

    meanwhile i found the 8gb 3080, 11th gen in stock somewhere. so tempted.











    price is a little confusing tho. Feel like they prefer you buy the 16gb.

    the 3070 mode is $1999. (11800h, 16gb, 1tb, 3070)
    the 8gb 3080 model is $2999 with the same exact specs just with a 3080
    the 16gb 3080 is $3499, adds the 11980HK, an extra 16gb ram, and an extra 500gb ssd.

    indeed 8gb vbios ram is minimum for VR. But works fine with just 8gb and rtx 3070 gpu for the oculus quest 2 (half life alyx)
