i have owned my clevo p150hm in excess of three years now, half of which has been with a replacement nvidia 560m because my ati 6990m fried. never figured i'd ever have to make use of mxm.

having done a fair amount of consumer research, i've pinned my hopes on the p34wv3,
mostly because of its balance between weight, battery, power and hopefully a relatively quiet low-loading state for watching videos online, surfing, etc. (the p34 weighs almost half as much as my current laptop as well!).

i've looked into the macbook 13", aorus x3 and even a few lightweight 15s", and yet the p34 still looks like the machine that stands the best chance of providing what i'm looking for.

You're pretty much the same as me. The only reason i'm stuck between this and the Aorus is because of the screen. I love the 13.9" Aorus with it's super thin bezels and high resolution. I guess the price and reviews will be the deciding factor. Still no news on when this is actually launching.

My biggest concern is how hot it's going to run when playing games. This is the first time I'd be buying a gaming laptop and I don't want it melting below my hands. But, at the same time I need something light since I'm going to be going off to college next year. Can;t wait until mid January when reviews start getting posted.

Gaming laptops typically run hotter. However with my previous Gigabyte laptop it was pretty good at dissipating the heat well and didnt throttle at all. My current GS70 does however get very hot. I would say the P34W will be fine for you. I'll be getting one for siimilar uses (uni etc).
