Have had this laptop now for about 3 weeks and it already seems to be struggling?

I've already had to force restart it like 6 times as it stops responding at the most random times.

Yesterday I tried to open a regular file that froze the entire computer not even allowing me to access task manager.

A couple of days ago i tried to open a video and the computer black screened.

Just today I started my computer and it wouldn't load any programs or even shut down. Also sometimes when I shut it down or restart it takes about 2 hours to do that.

I dunno if this is an operating system error or my pc? Im really worried as I spent a crazy amount on a laptop that isn't performing as it should. Should i ring the seller?

Have you tried a fresh windows install? If it still persists after that definitely ring your seller ASAP

Edit: ring your seller first. Who did you get it from btw?

Try an OS re-install and check the drive status in SMART.

How do I do a fresh OS install? Factory reset? What do you think the issue could be?

Personally, my money is on the drive being almost dead.

Inclined to agree to either a drive or RAM issue but strange how quickly his drive died (if it is a drive issue)

Not really - one gentle love tap is enough to kill a spinning HDD.

If the HDD is in use that doesn't rule out anything - check all drive SMART charts to be sure.

Check your temperatures with HWinfo, drive health with HWinfo etc. Do a memory test outside of windows and check what happens. I doubt it is a software issue though.

It's this. Exactly what happens when a drive is going bad, and it doesn't have to be the boot drive.

Follow the instructions below to a clean install of your OS to remove any possible software/ OS issues.

You'll need a USB with at 4GB of space if you don't have the any Windows recovery media.

If you don't have recovery media, visit the link below, download the tool, run this, select the option to create media for another PC, Select the USB and the media tool will create the recovery ISO.

    For Windows 8.1 visit- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8

    For Windows 10 visit- https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/

Make sure all your files are backed up before proceeding to the next step.

    1. Put the USB into your system and restart your computer.

    2. Press the F12 key to enter the boot menu as soon as the computer begins to boot, select the USB and press ENTER to load the Windows setup.

    3. Click install now and click through the various options.

    4. Once you get to the option to "upgrade" or "Custom", click on Custom.

    5. Remove all recovery files, partitions, and wipe your primary HDD.

    6. Your drive should say "unallocated", select the unallocated drive and click next to reinstall Windows.
