Hi guys i Re-pasted my Aorus x3 v3 with MX-4 compound. And can tell you my
temps cpu droped about 5c - 10c After Re - paste and gpu temp was about the same as before. But the 900 series cards run cool anyway. Room temp 34 fahrenheit.

TEST'S where made with the following conditions in Command Control utility

Fan control was set to auto high speed and Power mode set to high everything else stock.

    Before i re-pasted i tested my temps with prime 95,furmark,Gpu z and Intel E U. I have posted
a picture of the temps below with both prime and furmark running. Also there was some throttling
to be seen. I have posted a picture sorry about the quality it was taken on my phone i will update more.

Here is temps after Re - paste in Dying light. Iam happy with the temps for now. I will re-paste with IC diamond in the next thew months.

Also zero throttling after re-paste i found. I am happy with this laptop for the size and form factor. Everything set on high 1080p Auto high fan profile it is not that loud on this profile.

Your temps will drop even more with IC Diamond paste.. I've used MX-4 and it's junk... It lasts for 2-3 days and then just pumps out and my temps go back up by 10C.. IC Diamond is rock stable and temps have stayed consistent..

That's good to know about the IC Diamond Paste. I didn't know if there would be that big of a difference between one paste and the next. Added that to my laptop order yesterday, so glad I made the right choice.

No clue how you are getting such low GPU temps. Were you using Furmark at fullscreen 1080p w/ 2x MSAA? That's the "best" for a torture IMO. I'm currently running a test with my IC7 and maxing at 80c GPU / 90c CPU which tbh seems like what I had before. In fact, the thermal compound on this didn't look all that janky like I am used to seeing.

83c on GPU and my CPU is still 89-90c. On top of that my frequency doesn't stay that high. I'm at 1.51Ghz on my CPU right now.

Ignore my temps i tested them in the morning when it was freezing. Also i did not test for long i tested furmark windowed 1080p and prime 95 my temps now are 87c for cpu and 85 gpu. But in game i have not seen them past 85c respectively. sorry for the mistake

Surprised no one has noticed that Furmark incorrectly shows the 970M as a 980M. Been waiting for someone to post that but nothing yet. Lol.

So Daza100 and LVNeptune - i'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the X3 after seeing the options the 2015 RB came out with in their 1080p model and being able to save $700 going with the X3 over the RB and get better specs. Pretty much $700-$1000 more for less specs but unibody chasis for the RB and potentially a touch screen.

Do either of you have remorse or wish you would switch with RB as i've seen you bounce around lots of threads or would you say the few cons for X3 , as in any machine, still make it worth it?

If the Blade has mSATA SSDs as well as a MiniDP it would win, hands down. as it stands price for feature I think the Aorus is the way to go.

Yes I agree with Neptune if it had a extra Msata slot for extra storage it will win. I don't use Mini d port I use hdmi and game on my 50'' tv @ 1080p. Only thing I wish it had is a glossy screen

I don't think re-pasting can make CPU 10C cooler but not for GPU. You need to test in a very controlled condition in order to make fair comparisons:
    1. the environment temperature must be the same. Since the temperature varies from hour to hour, from day to day, so it's best to do it in an air-con room with the same set temperature.
    2. the surrounding ventilation condition must be the same, you must put your laptop at the same location with the same surrounding configuration
    3. you must set the fan to maximum because: 1) that is the only level in which the fan speed is constant; 2) under adaptive fan speed, sometimes with increased temperature, it may just force the fan into the next quantum level, resulting in relatively lower temperature. It is not very reliable to measure under adaptive fan speed.
    4. you must make sure that both CPU and GPU are running at the same constant speed, not neccessarily with turbo boost. You can do that using ThrottleStop. For example, if I use ThrottleStop set CPU clock to 8x, that is 800MHz, I can run Prime95 alone a) below 55C, b) in a 25C aircon room, c) with fan mode set to silent (lowest), d) on top of a write plastic synthetic office table surface.

I am pretty sure you missed out some factors. 10C is a lot. If you can get 10C cooler for CPU, there is no reason GPU stays the same.
From your diagram, your CPU is at 2.5GHz base frequency, there is no turbo boost. That's why you get a much lower temperature. From 2.5 GHz to 3.5GHz, the power ratio is (2.5/3.5)^2 = 2.5^2 / 3.5^2 = 6.25 / 12.25, the power is almost doubled, you will usually get 10C hotter under the same cooling condition without thermal throttling.

Furmark is the worse way to test for temps. It's just a power virus that will force highest temps and even throttle for no good reason. Just use game benchmarks for best evaluation.

Not really. They are worst case scenarios. And it does throttle for good reason. It it power hungry.
