Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Gigabyte P37W. I just ordered one from XoticPC.com and anxiously awaiting it and wanted some thoughts. I know they are newly released so maybe nobody has had any experience.

What did Xotic tell you for a delivery estimate? Theirs is the only site I've seen that doesn't have it listed as "preorder" or "backorder." When I asked them last week, they claimed the normal 9-16 day wait, but I don't think they realize they're not quite out yet... Good luck! I'm waiting to see some reviews of this or, at least, the P37x before I make a decision between the two.

They are expecting to get it in next week to start the build process I asked them yesterday. They could not give me an exact date

Good to know! You must have gotten somebody who actually knew what they were talking about. The person I talked to claimed the P37x and P37w had only shown up on the site that day, when I had personally posted the link to the P37x here on NBR the week prior.

The person I have been talking with is named Derek. They seem really helpful so far. I am really anxious to get this rig.

I just ordered my P37w from Xotic. I talked to Derek as well, and he seemed pretty indifferent to my questioning and didn't seem to have much insight into the product to be honest. When I pointed out a few inaccuracies/inconsistencies with the specs they have listed, he didn't seem apologetic for the poor information or anything and didn't offer any thanks for bringing it to his attention. Come to think of it, he didn't even thank me for the business, instead only saying "you're welcome" to my thanking him for his assistance and answering some of my questions. Finding really good customer service is hard. I suppose as long as they handle any problems I may run into with a reasonable amount of haste and act as a good intermediary between me and Gigabyte should the need arise, I'll be a happy enough customer. Hopefully I won't have to test out that side of their support. I've purchased a Sager from them in the past and don't remember them being so "meh" about somebody being willing to give them money.

I too ordered a P37W from Xotic and I too spoke to Derek. He was similarly blase about the whole thing... maybe he's gotten too many questions about it. He seemed more cheery the first time I chatted then when I had follow up questions.

On a side note, I feel like with the Gigabyte forum already not getting the kind of traffic that other brands do, maybe we should roll up this conversation into the P37X thread? They are pretty much the same computer other than GPU and some storage/RAM options.

Hi, I am currently in Taiwan on a holiday and have been looking at new gaming laptops while here. I have come across the Gigabyte P37W (17inch, gtx970m, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd, i7-4720HQ). Supposedly one of the thinnest gaming laptops around.

This is selling for $2,600 in Australia, but over here it Taiwan I can get it for about $2100AU. This sounds like a good deal – but I'm worried that this laptop will just get too hot and noisy, due to how thin it is – especially when playing new games like the Witcher 3 (which is included). Has anyone got any experience with this laptop? Thoughts on whether this is a good deal or should I just wait until I get back to Australia and buy a chunkier Metabox or MSI?

I have a P37W. I can't speak to the value of the deal. That said, when running a demanding game like Far Cry 4 with the fan control set to "Gaming", the fans don't go up to their "full blast" loudness, and the fan noise is actually quite reasonable; I can easily play a game without headphones. However, if you manually set the fans to their loudest, it is quite loud. The tradeoff here is that on Far Cry 4 with the "gaming fan setting", while the noise is bearable, the temps on the CPU reach 80-85C, and the GPU temps reach 70C. The laptop is quite hot to the touch where the GPU/CPU are, and I would definitely not game with this on your lap. That said, the heat is focused entirely in the rear of the device so as long as you have the laptop on a table, you will not notice the heat during gameplay.

Be sure to ask for a cash discount, depends on the reseller most of the time you can get - 100AU off + other goodies in Taiwan.
