Just got the laptop today (P35x-v3). Tried looking around in WoW, and it froze up within 5 minutes so I figured I'd update the graphics drivers. In the middle of installing NVidia drivers, I got the Windows 8 sad face with some sort of gfx failure (didn't catch the exact name, but it started with nv).

Now Windows says I don't have an NVidia card at all. Tried restoring Windows, which did nothing. The 980m only shows up under hidden devices and says it isn't connected to the computer.

Updated the BIOS, which also did nothing. In the BIOS chipset tab, I see PEG0 Not Present. On an unboxing video I saw, it looks like that should say PEG0 x16 Gen 3. (removed link)

I don't really know what else to do, but considering I haven't even owned the thing for more than 4 hours I'd like to try what I can before dealing with an RMA.

If a restore doesn't work then return/RMA it. It's hardware. My P34W v3 killed it's graphics card within 3 hours of owning it as well. **** happens.

Yup, Gigabyte support immediately told me it was a hardware failure and to return it to Newegg. Since they no longer have the one I bought in stock (P35XV3-CF2), it's getting refunded.
