    Hi everyone

    I'm new here.. I just picked up a new P35W V3 CF2 from HIDEVOLUTION and they confirmed that this laptop has a TN panel.

    Is there a way to upgrade the screen to IPS? Has anyone done this?

    The contrast and brightness definitely falls short of my Lenovo W520 which has a full gamut IPS screen.

    You sure it's not IPS? I checked with Gigabyte when i bought mine and Gigabyte told me that all p35w v3 have the wide angle IPS type screen, I think you can check using HWINFO or possibly device manager.

    I don't think Gigabyte even uses TN screens. I believe all P35W units use AHVA screen (basically a variant of IPS)

    Just checked with HWINFO and the panel is an LG 156WF4. This does appear to be IPS.

    I just wish it was brighter, had better contrast and better viewing angles.

    The stock P35W v2 was downgraded to a TN panel. There was a pretty ugly flap about it when a reviewer discovered it in her new laptop (even the seller didn't know Gigabyte had switched it).

    Yeah, the 156WF4 seems to be a poor panel for an IPS / PLS / AHVA. About 250 nits, 70%-80% sRGB.

    I'm curious if the screen can be swapped for a better panel. Does anyone know what kind of connector it uses, and how difficult a swap would be? The Lenovo Y50 owners seem to have made a panel swap routine.

    The 156WF4 panel was in the test model of the review here;

    Gigabyte P35W v2 Notebook Review - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

    I'll check mine later to see if it is the same model, but someone mentioned that the brightness seemed to increase after a BIOS or Gigabyte tool update, I run mine at 95% and colours and brightness seem good to me, although tend to use in fairly dim room at night so that may help.

    edit: yep mine is the same 156wf4 model so guess that's pretty standard.
