Hi, I have a new P35K. I have two problems that I cannot resolve:

Problem 1: Speaker's dont work after waking from sleep.

I have the following audio related drivers/software installed:

-Realtek drivers from P35K drivers download on gigabyte site
-Dolby v4 from P35K drivers download on gigabyte site
-Latest HD Audio drivers from NVidia's driver download

When I boot, the computer sometimes makes a small pop when the speakers kick on. After initial boot, speakers work great. However, if I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again, I cannot get the speakers working again no matter what I do, aside from restarting the computer.

    Things I've tried:
-Installing the latest Realtek drivers from Realtek's own website (interestingly, Realtek's latest drivers are dated from 2013, where Gigabyte's Realtek drivers are dated from early February). This didn't have any noticable effect, and the problem persisted.
-Uninstalled all Realtek drivers. Left Nvidia's HD Audio drivers installed. Did not work.
-Uninstalled Nvidia's HD Audio drivers, but left Realtek's drivers installed. Did not work.
-Uninstalled both Nvidia and Realtek drivers. Did not work.

In any of these cases, if I plug my headphones in, they do work. By the way, Dolby v4 software does not start without the Realtek drivers installed (it gives you a notification saying it can't start), so that doesn't seem to be the problem either. It almost seems like a BIOS/firmware issue.

Problem 2: Backlit Keyboard doesn't "auto-adjust" as claimed by Gigabyte.

The keyboard has three settings, Off, Auto, and Fully On. At the second setting, it remains at about 50% brightness, but never changes. My screen brightness will autoadjust, based on whether I cover the Light Sensor (next to webcam) with my finger, or shine a flashlight into it. However, the backlit keyboard just stays the same brightness, no matter what.

Can anyone confirm one or both of these issues?

    1. bin dolby and retry

    2. Keyboard backlight was never automatic? (the screen is)

Still same results. Are you saying you don't have dolby installed and don't have this issue?

It is indeed supposed to be automatic (see below).

Spoke to Gigabyte tech support, who were actually very quick in responding, and helpful. They told me that the keyboard auto-adjust can be enabled by installing Gigabyte's Smart Manager software. I tried it and it did work. However, it is not without its own faults:

    1) "Auto-Adjust" only adjusts between two brightness levels. The first is backlight off completely. The second is backlight at 50%. With only these two brightness levels, there's not much benefit to auto-adjust, considering the hotkey for keyboard backlight already cycles between 0%, 50% and 100%.

    2) Smart Manager overrides the settings in Window's "Power Options". For instance, I prefer to have the screen at 100% brightness when plugged in, and to auto-adjust when on battery. Windows' own power options allow for me to set these modes based on plugged in or battery power. However, Smart Manager only allows the option for manual brightness, or auto brightness, without the ability to select different options based on plugged in or battery. Other settings are overridden as well.

    3) Any setting you choose in Smart Manager requires that it is running. This means that if you choose "auto" for the keyboard backlight setting, you must leave smart manager's process running. If you disable it from startup, or if you uninstall it, those settings will no longer function.

My first issue with the speakers not working after sleep is still not resolved. A bit disheartening.

Silly question - is the user who is waking the machine an administrator?

I'm also having a similar problem with the sound. On waking from sleep or hibernation, sound does not work. Occasionally I will also have the same problem when turning the computer on for a fresh start. A restart is the only thing that gets the sound to work again. I too, have tried replacing the drivers to no avail.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Other than that I absolutely LOVE this computer. This thing is a beast.

Its possible this is a firmware issue. I have the same problem with the speakers after suspend in Linux which obviously isn't using the same drivers or dolby software as Windows.

I've got the same issued from sleep or hibernation.

Seems to revolve around Smart Manager.

Try installing it and report back
