    Hi ...

Is there any software (such as Speedfan) which will work with the P35G v2 which will allow full gamut, 0% to 100% fan speed control?

The Gigabyte "Smartmanager" software allows you to run in "stealth" (very slow) or "Auto" (decent automation but the idle speed is a bit too low for me) and "Turbo" (which is generally too fast to run all the time) ...

I'd like something that would allow me to up the idle fan speed by just a bit ... a slight amount of noise is not a big deal as room ambient noise is considerable anyway ...

I think the idle temps would be quite a bit better with just a touch more speed on the default idle fan speed...

I tried Speedfan but it didn't auto sense any fan control hooks and I had no idea what to select in the motherboard section ...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    joel

HWINFO utility shows quite detailed information about voltage regulator used in this laptop, that should give a better idea of what to pick for the SpeedFan. I'll try it tonight.

Also, Gigabyte Smart driver might be interfering with SpeedFan direct access to hardware. I would also try SpeedFan with Smart manager and driver uninstalled.

    Thanks for that ...

Tried disabling anything SmartManager related and still no go with Speedfan ...

Really not too big a deal .. just wanting to toy with the fan profile if possible ... sort of like you can do with desktop video cards by creating fan profiles based on temps ...

I tried all I described above and it did not work either. It appears that BIOS reports all the elements (temperature and voltage sensors, fans, etc.) in ACPI proper. Perhaps fan controls are not properly exposed in emulated BIOS (layer on top of UEFI).

Odd ... I've had good luck with Speedfan over the years and with my desktop rigs ...

No biggee, though ... I added a Cooler Master U3 to the equation and that's got the idle temps down by 10+ degrees and so the super slow fan speed is not a concern ...

    Thanks for the effort.
