Does anyone have a P34W v4 that can share their CPU temperatures during idle?
I see reviews online for the v3 idling at 40 Celsius

I currently idle at 56 Celsius while underclocked (-70mV), and min cpu set to 0%. I have also repasted with gelid gc extreme, but still idling really hot.

What's your room temp? What was the temperature before you repasted?

What's your CPU util? My razer blade (same GPU/processor as the PC34Wv3) idles at around 36C at that ambient temp.

Could be worth checking the paste for uneven spread/gaps/air bubbles etc.... My V3 idles at around 40c at stock settings and similar ambient temp. (When not being repaired..... for the 3rd time :( )

I downgraded BIOS from beta version to latest version and the temperatures dropped from 56 to 50 celsius now. Seems like the threshold for the fan to kick in was around 57 on the beta BIOS. The threshold on the latest BIOS is 52.

I also tried repasting again, but didn't really help at all.

Ah that sucks, my best guess would be that either the heatsink is not seating properly or it has a defect. I would send it back.

I think it's possible that Broadwell runs hotter than Haswell.
Looking at this thread, Broadwell runs 10 degrees hotter than Haswell during benchmarks for the MSI laptops
    Broadwell H quad core models i7-5700HQ, i7-5750HQ, i7-5850HQ, and i7-5950HQ

I'm not sure if it should have the same gap during idle as well.

Can anyone who has the P34W v4 confirm their idle temps?

To conclude this thread...I've checked with several NBR members through PM who own the P34W V4, and they are all seeing idle temps around 50C

When I get home I will check my temps for you. Room temp is usually around 75 during the day, and I have an aftermarket paste on it.
