I think its about time to open this thread.

Are there any news other than having an 970m?

Did they finally change the color scheme?
    GIGABYTEs Gaming-Notebooks P35X v3 und P34W v3 jetzt mit NVIDIA GeForce 900M | Ahrtos.de

Also from the google translated german text:
"Thus the system is stable even under the highest loads, cools GIGABYTE Supra-Cool technology GPU and CPU via a dedicated fan and two extra heatpipes down to the optimum temperature"

"For longer fun, the 30 percent longer battery life, which makes the P34W v3 makes it the perfect mobile gaming station"

So should we expect improved cooling and battery performance?

Also a question for XoticPC: when should we expect this if we preorder?

It seems like they've just standardised the 61Wh battery across the range. That's probably the 30% they're quoting.

Seeing the only available picture of this machine I first thought they messed up and used an image of the also new p35w. But after comparing the ports I found that they are exactly matching the previous p34 layout.
The cheap looking silver plastic finish was one of the main deal breakers for me in the past. Being such a high spec'd machine should also be reflected in a quality build and design. Now I just hope they manage to handle the extra heat from the new GPUs...

    Exact same thoughts.

I would like for somebody to also offer the GA-P34-v3-D1 model that is significantly cheaper.

Also the arrival time is December...

Sweet! Now we can start calling this a real Razer Blade competitor (apart from the display resolution which is highly overrated anyway imho). After the big disappointment of asus' new NX500 and GX500 with prices far beyond the 2000 Euro mark the P34W v3 comes in at a very reasonable 1500 Euro. Add a slightly improved keyboard (without flex) and asymmetrical fans (to spread the noise to more frequencies which reduces the overall loudness) and this will finally be my next notebook after searching for over a year now!

Hopefully they nail the "complete" package with this one. I still like my original P34G, but this does make my mouth water a bit.

Man this really nice. I like the idea of a 14" form factor better than the 15.6 (GS-60). The only thing this is missing is a high DPI (3K\4K) display.

On the contrary I am glad that it doesn't have one :)

Currently I am using a 15.5" laptop with 3200-1800 pixels. What a huge pain in the *ss it is. Blurry and tiny stuff all over the place. Also driving all these pixels with programs such as lightroom creates huge lags. A FHD resolution on a 14" inch display is crisp enough..

Yes, I tried both Windows 8.1 and 10.
And to tell you the truth the problem is not so much with windows but with programs that are not highdpi ready like adobe's.
Still Windows can improve too. Remote desktop doesn't support it, having multiple monitors messes up everything, etc..

P34Gv2 display is very good. As it seen in: Gigabyte P34G v2 Notebook Review - NotebookCheck.net Reviews
"Most gaming laptops sport a TN screen, perhaps because the alternative IPS that Gigabyte opted for in the review sample is not exactly known for fast switching times. However, the P34G v2, of course, benefits from the advantages of the IPS technology, such as higher contrasts, better color accuracy, and the superior viewing-angle stability. The resolution of 1920x1080 pixels (16:9) distributed over 14-inches results in a very good pixel density of 157 ppi. The image sharpness is exemplary and facilitates reading the sometimes almost too small characters."

For comparison the MacBook Pro 13\15 Retina has 227\220 PPI and the Razer Blade 14 has 226 PPI. None of these have a GTX 900 series in them, and I've not even seen Apple toy with the idea of high powered GPU's, even though the MacBook Pro costs 2500$... same as a Razer Blade and P34.

The details of P34W have not been officially released yet so XOTICPC just used the picture and the details from P34Gv2.

The new pictures that are published have the black design.

Keep in mind that the most common negative detail that all the reviews were mentioning is the cheap looking design. So for P34X it should be the first thing to change. And from what it looks they did.

We will have to wait for the beginning of November for an official announcement.

This is really good news. I have been searching for a possible upgrade options from the 2013 Blade 14". Everyone seems to be pushing 3k screen nowadays. Was looking for a laptop that had awesome gaming potential, either a 1600x900 or 1980x1200 screen, long battery life in a slim and beautiful package. So excited, this might just be it.

Please please be all black, the silver two tone was so cheesy looking.
If they fix that and the keyboard flex issues, this is finally the upgrade to my Acer v7-482pg 750m, which i love.
Lets go Gigabyte you can do it!

I do not think there will be any changes in the design except for the new color.
The two leaked images look pretty official to me and since the third iteration of their 15 inch lineup (p35) reuses the old design 100%, how come they should do any different on this one?
If this helps pushing the price even further than I would say: Why not?! Or are there some severe flaws in it besides the flex in the keyboard?

@Sebi97: I just watched your YouTube videos about the p34g v2. You did a pretty good job and left me with an overall positive impression of that machine. If you decide to get the new version I hope you keep those videos coming as well :)

It would be nice to get DisplayPort in, almost every other chassis has them. But if it's exactly the same chassis as P34G v2 then it would be just HDMI :(.

No need for a display port. The graphics chips support HDMI 2.0 (although haven't seen a test yet and I guess it needs to be implemented in drivers and bios). That means 4K displays are fully supported at 60Hz. I think HDMI is even more convenient because most devices while travelling like TVs have only HDMI anyway. So you don't need to carry an adapter or special cable around - which is not a problem at the good monitor at home or work.

Given I was going to get the p34 v2 but thankfully held off, I'm almost certainly going to get the p34 v3 - it's just a matter of waiting.

Hoping ocuk have it in stock this side of the new year.

    I'm in the same boat.
The size and weight of the P34 is a major major plus for me as I'm travelling often.
The 980m would be the only reason why I would buy a P35x but I don't think I really need that extra power, except maybe for the Witcher 3 comging eventhough the 970m should handle the game with very good quality settings.

EDIT : for those who don't follow the P35x v3 thread, there has been confirmation from a REP of Gigabyte that the cooling system has been improved and the chassis strenghen for the keyboard. More generally, all the v3 versions of their computers receive the same improvments.

What will the P34G v2 be called? I looked at gigabyte's website and the v3 for p35 is W and X named after the 980 and 970, the 960 isn't going to be made as far as I know . Does this mean no P34G and only P34W and X?

I'm pretty excited for this especially if it's full black. Then it'll have aesthetics, performance, portability and it doesn't cost as much as msi, asus or razer considering I can get it from Australia without shipment.

On a side note, would it be worth waiting for the version with a Broadwell chip? It may also increase the battery life which will make this the perfect laptop.

Hmmm... well now that the P35X v3 has been confirmed to have a 3k matte screen instead of glossy I think I'm going to go for it instead, plus it comes out sooner and the other upgrades (keyboard, cooling, etc) are very appealing as well. Let's hope that everything we've found out prematurely about this laptop is true (that is actually is matte and not glossy)! Still a little bit unsure because xoticpc has it listed as glossy but hopefully that's an error on their part. :p

The improvments on the P35x should also be available on the P34w.

Don't forget that the P35x is 2,5 kg and not 2,1 kg like it is claimed on the official website. The p34w is about 1 kg lighter ! That's a huge difference.

The only reason why I would buy a P35x is that if the 970m doesn't provide enough power for my intended use (some heavy gaming for the winter, I think about the Witcher 3 mainly).

EDIT : does the increase in battery capacity means more weight ?

The Original PSU was rated for 120w ... that was for the 860m version ( v2 )... considering that the v3 has a more energy efficient 970m ... am guessing it will have the same power brick ...

Any idea when the P34G v3 is releasing in the US ?? am dying to buy it ...

GTX 860M in Gigabyte P34G v2 was already efficient Maxwell version, which had 40-50 watts TDP.

GTX 970M in Gigabyte P34W v3 is a bigger Maxwell, should have TDP of around 65 watts, so more powerful brick / better cooling would be needed.

For comparison, other notebooks with GTX 970M got 150 watt power supplies (MSI GS60 and Clevo P650/651), and at least in case of Clevo that was far from enough.

I asked the question to a Gigabyte rep on the OC forum so we should have an answer tomorrow.
What do you mean by the fact that it was not enough for the Clevo ? Any link ?

I really hope they provided more.

NotebookCheck review, they measured max 203 watts power draw:

Clevo P651SE (Schenker XMG P505) Barebones Notebook Review - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

You have to keep in mind though, that was GPU + CPU stress test, and also that's a different notebook.

Gigabyte P34W v3 should be hopefully less power hungry :) Still it will be hungrier than its older 860M version, that's for sure.

Yeah it should be a lot less power hungry, so a PSU of 150w should be slightly sufficient even for gaming, but let's hope it comes with a 180w too. Answer tomorrow !

The original one was for the 760m which was 120w. When it went to the 860m it was upped to 150w

There is no such thing as a more power efficient 970m both the p35 and the p34 can am do carry the same gpu

Some answers from the Gigabyte rep :

    2. Good

    3. 150W power supply, not very good : / Anyway now we cannot comment any further on the power supply, the first reviews and benchmarks will talk.
For the black colours, what is weird is the "we are thinking to make it more black", like nothing has been done yet. oO

    Some updates :

    2) the cooling system has been improved and the chassis strenghen. I would assume that we shouldn't see as many problems as we used to with the trackpad too.

    3) So maybe the colors are still the same as the v2, and the black version will come in 2015. I'm gonna ask a little bit more details.

So far the p34 should be very great, the unique concern would be the 150w PSU for the 970m.
