Even though I just sold my M17x for a desktop, I would happily go back if this was affordable and available in the UK. That thing looks AMAZING

My guess will be at least 2300 onwards because GS70 is around that price with minimal spec

I like it quite a bit and would it actually be a good system for college, but I'm definitely not paying over 2k for a laptop with specs like this.

I'd probably fork over up to 2500$ for that with a good storage option. And let's face it... 2 speakers + 2 woofers, 2.9kg, wide-gamut LCD, 2 HDMI + DP, 6 air vents, SLI, 22mm etc.
This will be an ultra-premium machine. Everything I saw in the review and the spec sheets points to this machine being designed by people who know exactly what enthusiasts want (fully customizable fan profiles anyone?).

that is nice piece of technology sandwiched together, I do like it, and looks really class, but reminds me of alienware a little bit :) however, looks really really nice

I just recently picked up a P35K a couple months ago but after seeing this i'm stoked!. I had shied away from 17" because when I'm at work 17" laptops are too cumbersome to use in my work truck. I thought I was getting away from 17" and now they're pulling me back in. Can't wait to see what Razer will pull out since MSI and Gigabyte have stolen some of their thunder in the slim gaming laptop market.

Razer's refreshes aren't that old yet, unfortunately. We're probably a little ways off from seeing a Blade 14 R2. Shame as I would imagine they will fix the one beef everyone has with it.

How hard is it to add RAM to it, you think? 8gb as standard is not enough and to maximize it to 32 sounds ideal.

Look at the images. Easy as pie to upgrade. 32 is a bit extreme really, but won't hurt anything.

it hurts the wallet hard if it comes with 2x4Gb, hurts less if it comes with 1x8Gb but still hurts

as for the razer blade 14 R2, if the CEO kept his claim i.e. the reason they chose a tn over the ips panel which is the response time, we'll likely see a 14 R2 with 1080p tn panel, or a 1080p 1-5ms IPS panel if it did happen, i'm actually quite interested in what clevo would do in response to all though thin and not light gaming laptops out there, perhaps a dedicated, full powered ultraportable with a workstation like bottom docking port that just so happened to be an MXM slot (for the GPU) heck i'm bullting here, no one makes external MXM/PCIE x16 slots, unless they are true 100W/200W hot pluggable

Why is the design and branding so different from the other Gigabyte laptops? This looks significantly better than the P34G and P35K. Is Aorus supposed to be Gigabyte's premium line-up? I've never heard of it before.

AORUS, which is a different company than Gigabyte, but still owned by Gigabyte, is now making the gaming notebooks. They will be under the name AORUS.
So its a different company now influencing and making these gorgeous notebooks like X7.

they know there stuff compared to Gigabyte. AORUS also said they will have more notebooks coming. A bright future :)

At the end of the video for the CES 2014 presentation, the guy says the baseline model will be $2099, which is pretty good considering how the equally specced Sager NP9390 costs around the same...but it freakishly huge by comparison... so that's a bit of a compromise in my book... >.>

    I want this thing... :3

I am totally interested in this laptop. If you guys want a thorough review up quickly so you can decide if you're buying or not, then please send a good word over to Aorus on Twitter at https://twitter.com/AORUS_Gaming username AORUS_Gaming, requesting a sample for me, HTWingNut, to review. They have already requested some credentials from me which I have supplied. I will do my best to do a downtown analysis, see my Clevo reviews here if you have not seen them: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...178-htwingnuts-sager-clevo-review-thread.html. But additional support from users here may be helpful.

It may help for them to expedite a review unit to me, or if nothing else, get me one of the first production samples that I'll be buying out of pocket.

I am so excited for this laptop, really wish it was 15" so it could be lighter and more portable but this is a very strong contender for my next laptop. Hope that screen looks good, don't know how it can compare to my 97% gamut 15" screen.

My main concern beside the fact that it power supply might be underpowered is that they say 1600 MHZ RAM. Come on, my 2 year old laptop has that, I hope it supports some faster RAM. If I'm upgrading it needs to be a big boost especially for this money.

Look at the dimensions though compared with typical 15" notebooks:

    MSI GE60: 404 x 250
    Lenovo Y510p: 387 x 259
    Clevo W350ST: 374 x 250
    Aorus x7: 392 x 263

So it's really not any bigger than a regular 15", but sports a 17" screen.

No real need for anything faster unless you plan on gaming with the Intel IGP and it's probably disabled anyhow. Intel specs call out 1600MHz as max RAM speed. I have 2x8GB 1.35v Crucial Ballistix RAM I plan on putting in mine.

Good point, though the weight is still not that light, but considering the construction, there is nothing lighter with the same or more graphical power. Putting this as the top candidate for my next laptop.

There are plenty of comparisons showing the benefit of faster RAM, especially since over the past few years some VERY fast RAM has come out. And of course it isn't a NEED, neither is a $2K+ laptop, but when you're trying to have a top of the line machine, why use RAM that is so outdated. Hell DDR4 is supposedly right around the corner.

EDIT: Wow, I didn't notice this, it wants DDR3L, thus the point of your 1.35V RAM... Interesting and more limiting, thing better run cool.

There is very little benefit to faster ram especially for gaming which is what this machine is primarily for. Even compiling ou encoding the benefit is marginal.

This wouldn't surprise me. 15" in this form with SLI would surprise me. If nothing else, I hope this laptop is popular enough to move gaming laptop's towards the thin/light style next year. Things seems to have stagnated in gaming machines because no one has really pushed anything new in a while. The Blade really caught my attention when it came out, it's just so expensive..

Even if it were 15" it wouldn't be much lighter. It's 6.4 lbs which is more than reasonable, especially for a 17" screen.

Here's a more recent review. Temps during benchmarks don't look to bad! SLI seems to keep it in line with a 780M. Not a bad deal if you can live with the short battery life

Edit: it appears all the cool kids are using the Aorus X7 thread in the gaming section. This was already being discussed there..

According to this review, the Aorus only has a battery life of... wait for it...

    152 minutes with SLI.
    164 minutes without SLI.

Maybe it's just me, but I find a 2.5 hour battery life on a laptop while not playing games sort of unacceptable. If the focus is portability, which it clearly should be (otherwise there's no point in making it thin) then there needs to be a decent battery life with the ability to swap out batteries. Alas, there is not... (confirmed this with Aorus PR through Facebook and email)

The focus is portability, yes, but it has twin GPUs and a fully fledged i7. It weighs in at just over 6 pounds too, which is rather lightweight for a laptop of this caliber. Just sayin'.

was an early adopter of the razer blade (had the original, 2nd gen, blade 14, and edge pro), and am drawn to thin gaming devices for some reason. Enjoyed the review. If the price point via newegg is $2099-2299 or so I may bite, unless Razer introduces an 8xxm blade refresh with comparable speeds.
