Is there a way to disable wake from sleep upon lid open/keypress? I didn't see any options in the BIOS or Windows with regards to that.
Also a strange thing I noticed. If I click the right mouse button during sleep the front panel lights up and lights off in a consecutive pattern from left to right as if that changed some sort of system function... not sure what that is about.

Hi guys, is it possible to wake this laptop from hibernate with a usb keyboard or mouse? I can't seem to make it work. Thanks!

Where can I actually buy this in Europe? Mysn doens't seem to list Gigabyte at all, and I'd want to order from somewhere where I can configure the laptop (16 GB RAM, make sure it's the 61 watt battery).

Mysn has confirmed multiple time that they definitely sell ALL C404 models with the 61 Wh battery.
Although the possibility of configuration is a nice thing, you should keep in mind, that these notebooks aren't any more configurable than any other laptop. So you easily can do everything from that yourself and save money.
If i were you i wouldn't buy with 16Gb, but rather with 1x8 Gb stick and buy the second 8Gb stick on my own as well as buying a SSD on my own instead of buying it at mysn.
Additionally Gigabyte has confirmed on a request, that they also will come out with the 61wh battery next time. Don't know when exactly. But if you could wait a bit more, you might wanna check that out too, as the Mysn version is slightly more expensive than the 'original' P34G v2 from scratch. -

If the XMG C404 is the Gigabyte P34G, is the XMG C504 also a rebranded laptop? If so, based on what model?
-
-
-
Hi
That's correctThe C404 uses the P45 v2 chassis with 860M and the C504 uses the P35 v2 chassis with 860M and 870M options. These are fully configurable (HDD/SSD/mSATA, ODD, RAM and so on) and whilst you could describe them as re-branded chassis we are happy to have an exclusive relationship with Gigabyte - hence the main XMG branding with "Powered By Gigabyte" added. Our 24 month Europe wide collect and return warranty is provided directly by us (through UK, EU and DE websites).

What size are the screws for the SSD? -

Any owners of this laptop have any problems with light bleeding? Also when you play games in dark areas do you have trouble seeing the surroundings and where you are going? I've heard of problems with contrast and light bleeding with the screen

Hi All,
Here is the notebookcheck review (in German) : Test Gigabyte P34G v2 Notebook - Notebookcheck.com Tests
Here is a Google Translate link (German > English) : https://translate.google.com/transl...yte-P34G-v2-Notebook.119328.0.html&edit-text= -
Valuation for different field:
Multimedia 74,13%
Office 80,43%
Subnotebook 83,26%
Gaming 81,12%
Just read the comments under the review. The valuation process is just not fair for especially this machine, because battery life, weigh and touchpad is weighted to low for gaming notebooks. -

@SEBI97:
Could you please tell me/us your GPU clocks under load on your P34g v2 without OC?
According to GPU-z it should boost with max 1020 Mhz, but according to that screenshot, it seems to boost even with 1197.5 Mhz...?
View attachment 113785
Did you ever recognize slightly throttling in your boost clocks on GPU temps above 80°C or do they stay solid on the max clockrates?
Background is, the user 'alaskajoel' reported, that both the Razer Blade Pro and the Y50 are slightly 'throttling' on their GPU Boost clocks when reaching over 80°C. -

Hi guys, I've been in a bit of a pickle as of late.
I was relatively sure (do correct me if I'm wrong though) all the models of the Gigabyte P34Gv2 (regardless of whether they're the CF1, CF2, or CF3) possessed the Maxwell variant of the 860M. However, I talked to an XoticPC sales rep last week and they said that their only stock of the P34Gv2 (which would be the CF2 as of now) had the Kepler 860M, and they seemed pretty adamant on sticking with that statement. I'm really keen on buying my laptop from them because their customer support is top-notch, but if it's true that they only have the Kepler 860M, I might have to consider purchasing the P34Gv2 from GentechPC (who reassured me that every model of said laptop had the Maxwell architecture in its GPU, whether it was from their own stock or elsewhere- which of course, only made me more confused about the XoticPC's stock), or somewhere else similar.
I wanted to buy this laptop last week, but my purchase has been delayed a bit, due to wanting to confirm the whole Maxwell/Kepler issue and also (which brings me to one of my biggest concerns) with trying to figure out how best to receive the laptop. I live in Singapore, but am moving to Michigan for university at the end of August. That being said, I would really like to have it with me before I get to the States, since when I arrive, I'll be in the middle of orientation (my flight got messed up so I'll be late to that too) and classes will start more or less right away. Do any of you guys have suggestions for how best to transport it overseas? Singapore tax on top of international shipping prices isn't looking too good for the ol' budget haha. Is having the laptop shipped to a friend who's coming back to Singapore at the end of July a decent option? I'm just concerned about whether they have to take it out of the Gigabyte box if they include it in their carry-on, and if it'll be safe at all if they have it checked in.
Any advice as soon as possible would be hugely appreciated! I can't wait to get my hands on this laptop, but I want to make sure all the bases are covered before moving forward with my purchase. -
It would be nice if a xotic rep could clear that up. I know that if there's even a chance of getting a Kepler 860m I will not be ordering from them...

Though I agree XoticPC has EXCELLENT service and pricing, I too would seek the maxwell version. The Kepler uses more power, heats up more and performs less. Not to mention the overclockability of the kepler being close to none...
Also, my poll ends tomorrow, so if you haven't already, please vote here on my future videos. Thanks! -
I have, but the model that is the most "advanced" is 2500 SGD, and that model is the same as stock models in resellers across the States. So there's no way I'm going to be buying it in Singapore.
-
Congrats on the purchase!
Looking forward to your opinion on it; take a look at the MX100 ssd. For 110$ you get 256GB :0 -
I've sold my, it was too noisy and hot. I keep hoping the U version comes soon, because other specs; the screen, body, gaming performance was phenomenal...

I can confirm I also received Maxwell from XoticPC; it seems like any Kepler versions of the P34Gv2 are non-existent (to my knowledge) at least on US Retailers

This..
If anyone has the CF2 model to check that would be fantastic. Although, still, it doesn't make sense, since a lot, if not all, of the models of the P34Gv2 out right now (i.e. GentechPC) are the CF2, and I've had them confirmed to have the Maxwell chip. XoticPC, why are you doing this to me, I just want to pay you for the laptop haha. -.- -
ephesix;
That is no doubt a full a quad core will be much better for rendering, video encoding, but I do not do such a stuffs. Actually video encoding yes and in this case I just leave the computer and it is done whenever it is done. For gaming, i7 ULV will do just fine with minimal FPS loose and that is absolutely ok if stays quiet, like my Samsung Series 5 Ultra does... For this body, I just found weight too much this 47W CPU. -
-
Download and run gpu-z. The codename for maxwell is gm107 while Kepler is gk104

The P34Gv2 is a great little laptop imho ! Personally I like the simple, understated design and have no concerns with the build quality.
Unfortunately some software options are annoying me. Windows 8.1 is such a letdown after Win7. I guess the best I can do until Win9 releases is to make 8.1 as much like 7 as possible and pretend Metro exists just in my nightmares.
On the other hand I have been unable to find any satisfactory alternative to the elanTech drivers.
I sorely miss the touchpad pointer momentum/glide/inertia where a flick gracefully sends the pointer from one corner of the screen to another - instead of a laborious series of jerky movements. I've tried different driver versions, including the Samsung 11.7.8.5 as mentioned earlier in this thread, but have been unable to add momentum.
I miss the Win7 and gliding pointer of my clunky old i5 Acer.
... has anyone been able to add momentum for the touchpad yet, please? -
Hey guys,
I wonder if you know if this laptop can run without the mSATA. I'd rather get it with just a 500GB SSD. -
I received my P34Gv2-CF2 a few days ago from XOTIC PC (with all the default options, for $1499). It is incredible. When I'm doing simple tasks such as web browsing or word processing, the fan is silent (though occasionally turns on at a quiet speed). When gaming, the fan gets louder, but that's to be expected, and I can hear the sound just fine with headphones (which don't even have noise cancellation). The build quality seems pretty good, only minor flaw is that the touchpad button is on a slight slope, and some parts on the bottom feel a tad bit loose. The first thing I did was take all the stickers on the front off, took a while, but it was worth it for the cleaner look. That Intel sticker was the most annoying one. I expected slightly higher fps in games than I've been getting, but the gaming performance is not bad by any means. All in all, I strongly recommend this laptop for those who are on the fence.
