I really have no idea but it should be relatively soon since the new GPU's have been announced , it looks like its worth the wait.

So with the bigger battery you would get about 50 more minutes of moderate use since it's 33% larger, but if it uses Maxwell architecture in the gpu should that number increase as well? It would be more attractive if it did

Yes it should with Nvidia's new battery boost feature.

NVIDIA says most laptops die after 50 minutes of gaming, claims new GPUs will double stamina

The 15.6 inch version will have the 870M. Question is, does the P34 have the Maxwell 860M? I'm keeping my eye on it even though those up/down arrow keys are so annoying...

EDIT: My bad, the P35G v2 will have an 860M, and the P35W v2 gets an 870M

    P34G v2 will have 860M.

Up/Down arrow keys are a shame. Probably, P34 has biggest right-shift key in the world. It must be change but i'm hopeless because pictures are same. One more thing which i want to see is power led. Just like MSI GE40, when Intel graphics card works, it's blue, when Nvidia works, it's orange.

I think everyone is waiting for confirmation whether the 860M is Maxwell or Kepler... since it has 4GB vRAM, my guess is that it will be Kepler :( if not I'm sold.

I'm waiting to hear about the Maxwell or Kepler thing too. Nvidia really should have named them something different to distinguish them. The Gigbabyte P15F v2 interest me.

Its pretty easy finding out if GTX 860M is Maxwell or Kepler.
Does P34 V2 come with MXM modules or is it soldered? If you don`t know, chances are V2 will be built exactly like P34 so check with that one.
    Maxwell = Soldered
    Kepler = MXM

I`m positive that no Kepler GPU like GTX 860M on 1GHz will ever come as soldered.

Any notebook with GTX 850M is a safe buy since it is 100% Maxwell. Its just a GTX 860M on slightly lower clocks.
    P15F v2 have GTX 850M

Nah let me find it out for you guys. After all, I`m here to help :)

GTX 860M inside the P34 V2 is 100% Maxwell. Running on beastly 1020MHz

    Very beautiful notebook btw

Are the temps similar to the GS60? According to GenTech's video?

Also in terms of performance from 860 maxwell vs 860 keplar any differences?

Thanks Cloudfire for confirming its a Maxwell 860M :)
As for temps , they should be easily controlled just by Maxwell's low TDP.
From what I hear both Maxwell and Kepler 860M's should have just about the same performance.

that link is not for the Version 2. it lists the original P34G, at a higher price tag than most sites, and equipped with less features! that link doesnt have a ssd+hdd and its also $100 more than other trusted sites

the new P34G v2 should have the GTX 860M 4gb VRAM and at least an option for a bigger battery, 63w instead of the 47w from v1. any other significant changes?

not sure if the v2 is being sold yet, i dont think its been officially announced for sale. if it come sout soon i might even think about upgrading my v1, since i literally just got it and could still return it

    I would check with
    GentechPC or XoticPC

Both sell Gigabyte notebooks but they haven`t listed this V2 notebook yet. Try emailing them and ask when it will be listed.
Both of those resellers are excellent and are active in this forum :)

I'm now eyeballing this. I've been doing about 2 weeks of research in buying a new gaming laptop and I keep switching between an MSI gt60, a sager/clevo 8268-s, and now I have this to consider. I really want an 870m. But from everything I've read they all have issues (I.e. the gt 60's ho4ible cooling solution, the clevo's not so great build quality and Asus 750's battery issues.) So I've been jumping back and forth. I've read very little about gigabyte though but this seems like a good buy. Any thoughts/help/opinion would be good, especially from any gigabyte owners!

I called Gigabyte's sales department; xoticpc is supposed to have exclusive selling rights this week, with other sellers allowed starting next week. First laptops ship out April 12. MSRP $1499. We'll see whether this is actually how things play out...

Yeah, the P34G v2. The person that I spoke to on the phone said that he thinks that xoticpc will offer some kind of discount or special, but I will be surprised if that actually happens.

ETA: xoticpc chat representative says that they should have it by the end of the week and confirms that they will first ship out early-mid April.

I really hope the price will be $1399 for the base P34G V2-CF1 model, no reason it should be any higher! It's just an update with the same tier card!

I also REALLY want them to make the P34G v2 in black. Like REALLY want them. That's the only reason I'm looking at the P35K. That black aluminum looks amazing...

i think gigabyte's screen is alot better.. but $400 better. I dont know.. I have to think more about this.

this is almost definitely what im getting.
Im kind of waiting for the y50 also because i have a few weeks before i can afford it.

the msi gs 60 was my main contender but without maxwell i cant pay that much.

I dont like the sager 7338 in comparison as its larger and all plastic. but it is definitely cheaper.

It is physic, cannot be solved just with bios update. CPU and GPU together close to 100W TDP, the fans have to spin and spin at full rotation speed soon as you start something intensive. Fortunately the U24F with half the TDP with the same cooling can be enjoyable quiet gaming laptop.

Correct. If the BIOS slows down the fan speed, the CPU and GPU will just run hotter.

TDP is not an exact indicator for how much heat the component gives off. TDP is a recommendation for the amount of cooling which should be installed. It is not very granular. That's why the i7-4702MQ (2.2-3.2 GHz) is rated at 37W TDP while the i7-4700MQ (2.4-3.4 GHz) is rated at 47W TDP, yet the i7-4910MQ (2.9-3.9 GHz) is also rated as 47W TDP. So in all likelihood, the 4700MQ probably only generates slightly more than 37W at load.

Windows lets you manually limit the frequency. Control panel -> power options -> change plan settings -> advanced -> processor power management -> max procesesor state. Just create a new plan named "low noise" or something and limit the processor to 50% or whatever you want. That'll give you roughly the same processing capability as the dual core i7 in the U24F and probably similar heat production. When you really need the extra processing power and don't care about noise, you can just switch to a regular plan.

You say something, but I'm afraid not. With reducing all the cores frequency the general performance will be slower as with a full speed dual core i7. It is because most programs still not using more than two cores and than two faster cores are faster than 4 at 50% reduced speed. Besides the dual core i7 is an ULV, means use lower voltage, so I think there is no way to match a 47W CPU with a 15W.

Here is my take on the fan issue:

The fan is loud at 100%. That is a mechanical fact; the components need to be cooled. (No BIOS update will change that) The problem the laptop had in regards to fan noise was that the fan would randomly go to 100% while searching internet or checking mail. The BIOS feature fixed that. The fan control utility Gigabyte includes is great at managing your speeds/noise. Either way, when you're gaming, you wont hear the fans over the explosions and gunfire ;)

You will not find a similarly spec laptop this thin that does not ramp the fans loudly. This laptop is actually very thermally impressive; watch linus do a quick overview and skip to about 6:30 - you wont find that on the Razer blade!
