Seems like the Aero 14 is getting its GTX 1060 update with 6gb vram. quite good it seems.

I have the first Generation and love it. I am hopping they did away with the only plastic part which is the outer rim and change it to some thing more sturdy.
other than that, i'm excited and im sure the 1060 will do quite well. Hopefully the fan reving is also looked at as well.

Today is a good day. The black one might be the best spiritual successor to the P34W v5 ever.
Still no thunderbolt type-C, which can be a letdown. Let's hope they fix the screen wobble that was quite a popular issue around. Regardless, I have high hopes for this machine.

In all honesty, I've never experienced the wobble issue while typing or using it on a "FLAT" surface. When i use on my lap, it never seemed to be a problem and or wobble to say the least. Quite strong of a hinge.
I think the thunderbolt thing is quite unfortunate as we are only going to see more potential with it, and perhaps even be a dockign solution. -
So I agree it would be nice to have TB3, but I have been waiting for so long for the specs of this machine with a 1060, awesome battery life and the ability to upgrade it that I still think I will buy it asap. My old laptop is dying fast and I'm ready to throw my money at this new one just cant wait to buy it.
1 Quick note/question that I thought was weird is that it says its listed with only 1 M2 Drive, where the old model supported 2. Hopefully its just an early mis-print, and with more info coming out it will match the old model, since It should have only been a spec upgrade on the Video Card.
Anyone @GIGABYTE Laptop can you answer that question? Or know when these should show up to buy at NewEgg or other sites? -
Good news, but I wonder what the pricing will look like.

Let's hope that the Kaby Lake refresh brings TB3 support.

Thanks for sharing. This is a very tempting notebook. You can see our review of the first-gen Aero 14 here.

If only they are available in the US I would have bought one of these last generation. Too late now, I just got a MSI barebones with the 1070 that will be replacing a gaming laptop and business laptop.

One thing that worries me is that the power adapter is only 150 watts. Will that be enough for a 1060?

1060 aero is on xoticpc for 1700$:

I just returned a MSI GS43Vr due to defective speakers. I'm looking at either the Aero 14 or the Blade 14. I don't know if getting a TB3 is worth another $300. The only advantage I would get is the ability to use an external GPU enclosure with means I can upgrade GPU down the road but given the enclosure coast and a new GPU will be more than half of a new laptop. I don't know how viable that will be. I guess I'm going to have a chat with XoticPC and see if they actually have them in stock.
Update. they expect their 1st shipment to arrive early next week but with Thanksgiving in the way, they probably won't be shipping till the following week even with a rush order. Since I'm going with the stock config, I'll probably go without the rush and hope they will ship earlier than the standard 9-15 days and then use Fedex 2/3 day air shipping.Last edited: Nov 17, 2016 -

Thanks for the Update Wiz - I have been wanting to throw my money at the New Aero 14 for 2 weeks now, just always saddened when a store sells them before they have the stock. I have had nightmares in the past with the store getting their shipment promptly without hiccups like "US Customs". Please let me know if XoticPC seems to be getting it out fast enough.
So right now I am waiting to see when NewEgg gets it also soon, plus at what MSRP cost. I have seen conflicting prices of 1599$ and 1699$. Also hoping to get clarification if this has 2 x M.2 PCIe SSD Slots like the original Aero. Because the manufacture page just says 1 for now, while not a deal breaker on the laptop it would be nice to have 2 of them. -
Yea. would be nice to have another internal M.2 slot but that won't be a deal killer as I'll probably replace the default 512GB M.2 with a NVMe at some point and then I'll just stick the original into one of this which won't add too much bulk when I travel:
https://www.amazon.com/DEGOL-NGFF-A...=1479488412&sr=8-3&keywords=M.2+ssd+enclosure -
From all indication the drive that ships with the unit should be PCI NvMe already.(more and more common every day) But from what I read on the original Aero it was like 50/50 what it was shipped with (region specific) and many of the early review units sent out were just SATA.
My hopes is it comes with 2 slots and ships with the correct NvMe drive already in one of them. -
I hope so but the website shows NVMe as optional so I have no idea what it will ship with. If it's actually a x4 NVMe with decent performance. Then I'll probably live with it and get a cheap 1TB M.2 for the external. Guess we'll have to wait till we see some reviews. This is one season I'm kinda holding off placing an order. If Xoticpc really is getting their shipment early next week. I would think some reviewer would have gotten an advance unit to review by now.
-
I did actually end up ordering one from xoticpc, but I feel like cancelling it since they're not expecting any stock till next week.
-
It looks like it only has 1 m.2 storage and for $1700 looks kinda steep in price. I thought closer to $1300. I'll pass on this.
-
I'm going to put my order in tomorrow. 4lbs with long battery is great. I had a MSI 14" with 1060 returned it cause the speakers were defective. I'm kinda glad as the MSI PSU is huge and add over 1lb to the carry weight. At least the Aero's PSU is compact and weight less.
-
Do you guys think this laptop will have thermal problems?
-
None reported on the 970M version so I hope the 1060 will be fine although it does use a bit more power (~30W) but it's on a 16nm instead of 28nm.

Only laptops I know at that budget are msi. Asus rog and clevo. And they start at 15" minimum.

I didnt mind the price, it was more of the storage options, only 1 m.2, I mean come on!!, last generation had 2 m.2 options. -
Now that you own that. I can't see no way back for you to want to downgrade from a 1070 to 1060 because you would of been too spoilt lol

No, so the answer is "No, the Aero won't have thermal problems?" -

Where did I say that Razer made good laptops?
Can you stop mincing words and just give your opinion on the Aero's thermals please. -
-
Actually, if weight is not a big concern for you. I would look at the P35X V6 at the same price of a Blade 14. For 1lb more, you get the GTX-1070 with a 512GB SSD and a 1TB SATA drive.Last edited: Nov 21, 2016 -
So I am still going to wait a few days to see if NewEgg gets it in stock. But it seems that @GenTechPC has them for sale as of yesterday. No mention if they are in stock or they are pre-selling them like XoticPC is doing. But at least they show you 3 skus with the color options.

Just had a chat with xoticpc.Doesn't look like it will be in by Weds. 1st shipment are typical by airfreight and they should have gotten the air waybill info by now if Gigabyte did ship over the weekend. I'm going to hold off till they have physical stock as I have a trip coming up on the 21st since I need to get it with enough time to set it up before or I'll just order after I get back.

Saying that I've just got my brother a w350ss with 860m and it's still solid especially as he came from a Radeon 2600m from 2007. But he's not a pc gamer...yet.

Just chatted with xotic pc and was told that they are expecting to ship the new Aero 14 out next week. No promise on that though and I was advised to get something else if I want a laptop by a specific date.

Gentech changed mid morning between showing as "pre-order" to "in stock" so I put my order in with them. They're also giving away a 1TB USB3 hard drive, upgraded thermal paste, 30 day dead pixel coverage, and a free T-Shirt if you're into that sort of thing. I'm personally worried that if they change the paste it'll void the manufacturer warranty.

Bruor- Thanks for the update. I am also almost to the point of ordering though @GenTechPC also. Did they give you a shipping estimate? But I agree that the thermal paste swap with warranty complication, delay of shipment, and just the fact i like a pristine new computer.
-
I think they're actually closed today, I couldn't get someone there to answer the phone so I could ask them whether it was actually in or not.

OK, I just jumped ship and ordered a P35XV6 instead. Was browsing over at Xotic and saw they have one in FHD with just the 1Tb for $1799 and for $100 and 1 lb more, you get the GTX-1070, 2 M.2 slots. This work perfectly since I just got an Intel 600P 512GB NVMe from egg's sales last week so I can put that in and clone the drive. then I started thinking. If I got the version with the 512GB M.2 and put in the intel and ditch the 1TB HDD and the DVD using the weight saver, I can get the unit to below 5 lbs. Well, I ended up getting the top package. it should be here sometime next week and if some of you have gotten the Aero 14 then and we can compare notes.
-
Sounds like a good choice, I just cant deal with a 15.6" laptop. The 10 Pad and the offset track-pad drive me up the wall. But would love to hear how it turns out for you. Also since the Aero doesn't put a mech hd in the case there is room for more battery, and i really like the look of the black one.
But with the Aero being slow to get delivered to retail, it has been driving me to maybe buy is the Aorus 13.9" X3 Plus v6-PC3K4D - 1900$ at NewEgg with free goodies.(like lots of them)

I went into a store and got my hands on the 965m version of the aero 14 and the pictures online don't do it justice. It's a really slick looking machine and the keyboard feels great in comparison to my previous top pick (xps15).
I almost bought it on the spot because I was tired of waiting for the 1060. In my case the 1060 will be a huge upgrade from my desktop which is currently a 570. The only concern I had was that the 965 wouldn't have enough horsepower for the qhd screen when it comes to games.

What store did you get hands on with it. I would love to check it out before I buy.
-
I live in the Niagara Region of Ontario and the local chain "Canada computers" had one in stock.
I had my heart set on a razer blade but their support is ridiculously slow to respond to any requests and there's a large thread in their forum about a gpu throttle happening to keep the machine cool. People are having to run throttlestop to get full performance (comparing to other 1060 laptops).
I will keep this thread up to date when I get the machine in and will gladly compare notes with anyone interested.
